I’ve grown up going to Northern Michigan nearly every summer and am fully a cherry fanatic. First of all, go visit my friends at Hallstedt Homestead Cherries in Northport for some fun cherry picking!
Back to Cherry Republic—the atmosphere is amazing and the food is delicious! We ordered our food to go and sat at the picnic tables with our two dogs and it was lovely. From sipping on Cherry Soda to wandering over to the samples booth (yes—this is a thing and didn’t stop us from taking multiple different samples... big fan), the experience from start to finish was truly a positive one.
I ordered the Famous Cherry Chicken Salad as a wrap, and my only complaint was I wanted more cherries! There were dried cherries in the actual chicken salad, but a Cherry Balsamic Reduction of some sort would be an amazing addition to this wrap. The cornbread jalapeño muffin was also a highlight and a perfect addition to the semi-healthy chicken salad wrap. Overall, a huge fan of how Cherry Republic plays with the salty/sweet notes of their dishes and can’t wait to visit again!
Side note: we also purchased a bag of dark chocolate covered cherries and finished them in maybe two days—would highly recommend!
We always enjoy stopping in Cherry Republic stores to browse, try snacks, sample wines, and invariably buy more than we intended. We definitely wanted to see the "home campus", and this definitely didn't disappoint. We were able to grab an outside seat, and order food (and beer) from the outside stand. The Cherry Stout beer was excellent! We enjoyed our sandwiches, salads and drinks in a wonderful, festive outdoor environment. After dinner, we browsed through the store, and then did a wine tasting. Later on in the evening, we tried some of the wonderful ice cream. Yes, we tried it all there, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
If you need anything cherry, stop here. Even if you don't, it's still a fun place to look around. They sell a huge variety of cherry-flavored food, most made locally. It's a great place to pick up gifts for Christmas, gifts for yourself, or candy to snack on while on vacation. Outside the garden is nice too. It's worth a look just to experience the place.
Lots of items, well laid out. Well staffed with little wait. Lots of barbecue sauces, salad dressings, wine. All made with cherries.
We stopped on our way through the area, as we love Cherry Republic’s store in Charlevoix. We were very impressed with their flagship “village”! So many favorites in the store, and such a pretty place to visit! We will definitely be back!
This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. The restaurant has gluten friendly options and the cherry ice cream was creamy and delicious. I would suggest the wine flight-very inexpensive and a great way to sample local wines. My personal favorite was the cheery hard cider-you will love it. Cute stop for couples, friends, families. There was live music on a Friday evening.
