My husband and I spent a week at the hotel and loved it. If you’re looking for the Four Seasons, you’ll be disappointed. If you are looking for an off the grid, comfortable contemporary (yes contemporary!) hotel on what is still an unspoiled Mexican coastline, you’ll be at the right place. The hotel is an hour and 10 minutes (on a narrow dirt road) for the airport. Just slightly worn around the edges, the hotel still has a cool vibe with nice, but simple rooms, really comfortable beds and great bedding—and a small restaurant with good simple food. The place is run on a combination of solar and a generator so internet and texting can be spotty, there is no cell service, and you’ll need to have some consideration for water and energy usage, but it is still a little piece of heaven. The entire staff is happy, helpful and kind. It made for a great week and we will definitely will be back—with our two dogs—for another week soon!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and your visit. Nothing could make us happier than a happy guest who appreciates that we are in a rustic setting. We have managed to tame just a small part of a very rustic area to bring service to an area with nothing. Our regular guests are very appreciative to have a place to go there. Our restaurant has been open for 15 years and started in a wooden box under a palapa. We have developed a huge following over the years and have created a community where there once were just houses. It has been the experience of a lifetime for me and I am so happy other people are happy there. Thanks again, Keri.

If you're interested in this property you want to get off the beaten path and are presumably ready for a minimalist retreat. While the location is great, Vidasoul ultimately misses the mark.
The good:
-Location and view are great, although the beach is pretty rough still
-The rooms are quiet and clean, with some of the best beds we've ever slept in while Mexico
-The bar/restaurant was lively, with cool art throughout
The bad:
-Despite being billed as an eco lodge the presence of the generator, running even during the day, right out front of the hotel was an obvious blight on the serenity
-The pool was basically unusable, as was the surrounding deck chairs, which were placed in the dirt with limited shade.
-The landscaping looked to have tried and failed over the years, with no real plantings to speak of.
-The lots on both sides were plainly in view, and were pretty desolate, making the property stick out like a sore thumb.
-The path down to the ocean had long eroded and you had to climb down a dodgy hill to get to the water.
All in all, the place has the makings of a cool destination resort, but the feng shui just wasn't there. I'd make the trek (possibly) to have dinner/lunch, but in reality there isn't enough to do there (comfortably) to make even a one night stay worthwhile.

We are never happy when a guest doesn't enjoy our facility. This guest was there on a day when we were getting ready for a wedding and rearranged all the shade to one side to shade the 40 chairs and the aisle for the bride to walk down. We brought in new lounges after that. We promise to bring service to our property and have tamed a very small part of the East Cape. When you drive up and down the coast, it's the same, a mansion then nothing and then another mansion. We are all on solar out there, black water reclamation, water conservation, etc.

Our hotel receives no deliveries of any kind besides the water truck. We buy our water from a truck and choose not to use it for plants or our energy to water plants. The problem with plants however is the with the watering comes mosquitos and we don't have mosquitos. Plants offer a great hideout for scorpions and snakes and we don't want them there. We were hit by a huge storm in September which knocked out the road, water and power systems for weeks. Everything was under water. We have had many happy groups there and a beautiful wedding, formal dinners, photo shoots etc, since the storm all with people raving about how great the hotel and everything was there. When I am there people tell me how beautiful it is and how happy they are to have an oasis there and we just keep trying to improve the property. We are in a hurricane zone and we get huge storms in September, and we spend our lives working around the storms, the wind, the corrosive salt air, etc. There are reasons for all things there that some people cannot see and others go on and on about this amazing feat it is to even have a hotel there. The problem with solar is that you need to run the generator for the a/c and we promise a/c where other eco-hotels offer a fan, a mosquito net and maybe a flash light if they turn the power off early or the batteries run down. We cannot afford to have guest without power. We have a giant solar system.

The nothing to do there is not a problem for many people as they walk down to the beach with their fishing rod and catch their dinner or lay around and read, walk on the beach, get up to see the sunrise, surf on the surf breaks nearby or go to Cabo Pulmo to snorkel or dive. The people who are the most happy there are the ones who do not want to be at a large hotel with pool activities and hundreds of people in the pool. Anyway, thanks for your visit.

Beautiful modern hotel, in a gorgeous location. Stunning views, our room had all glass walls on three sides, overlooking the ocean. Wonderful staff made the stay all that much more enjoyable. Off the beaten path, makes a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of Cabo. We would definitely go back!

Amazing stay! Off the beaten path but so worth it! The team took great care of us. The food was amazing and as an extra bonus the towels smelled amazing! The staff even helped rescue us when we got stuck in the sand. Highly recommend and will come back. Kinda quirky at first but the people made our stay a wonderful one!

It's hard not to be quirky in a place like that as in the East Cape in general. The area attracts kind of quirky people who just love the undeveloped-ness of the area. thanks for the review.

Flaco, Hector, William, Pret and the entire staff were amazing. Anything we needed, we had. We were able to change rooms to one with a better view, use surfboards, run a tab at the restaurant, borrow a cooler packed with beers and ice for day trips...it was like having our personal concierge team. And the food was INCREDIBLE! The chef made anything we wanted but the menu was perfect. The beet salad and the grilled fish are worth the trip alone. Bed was comfortable and the other travelers were friendly. The locals even helped us out of the sand (twice) when our rental was stuck on the beach. It is a little far from the resorts of Cabo but well worth the adventure.

The people who come there and become friendly with the employees and go fishing off the beach with them, have a wonderful memory.
