Being Tanglewood lovers, this was the perfect vacation spot to enjoy the area's concerts, plays, art galleries and restaurants as well as the lovely Richmond Pond and the provided canoe. Lacking for nothing, we even allowed ourselves the "forbidden" cider doughnuts from Bartlett's Farm Market around the corner. Wow!!
Even the electronic connections were topnotch if needed. All the appliances worked well, the place was clean and well furnished and we would like to come again.
This comfortable, breezy house was perfect! We loved being able to walk to the lake and canoe, play frisbee on the lawn, walk in the woods, eat on the deck, and gaze at the stars at night. When my boyfriend and I visit the Berkshires, we see so much theatre, dance, art, and music, and the house was conveniently located to all. Supermarkets and other conveniences are nearby. The host was so easy to communicate with, and really made an effort to make us feel welcome. There were cider donuts and flowers upon our arrival!
This house is well quipped with everything you need. It is conveniently located close to beaches with sandy bottoms. Both supermarkets are restaurants are nearby. There are many historic attractions, museums, shopping nearby by within a 10-20 minute drive.
There is a private lake on the property but it has a rocky bottom. There is also a canoe that we can use equipped with life vests and paddles.
My wife and I stayed here for a week in June. The hosts/owners are new to the rental business, but were eager to make sure everything was in order for us. The house is very well maintained. It's much nicer than a lot of three-season cabins in this price range. Wife and I agreed to a 'no devices' policy for the week, (We read books!) so I can't comment on wi-fi or internet. The bathroom being a little tight is probably the toughest criticism I'd have. As for outside, in addition to the private lake access, (and unlike a lot of similar properties we considered) it also has a lot of woodsy acreage for exploring kids and such. We picnic'd in a clearing back there once. it was really nice. Took the canoe out a couple of times. The lake was perfect. Saw some people fishing (not our thing). They said Richmond stocks it with fish annually. Lots of interesting things within a 10 min drive. Dined in Stockbridge twice at the Red Lion (also recommend). Saw a ski slope (Bosquet?) nearby, and are considering coming back next winter for both downhill and X-country skiing.
