Great restaurant & reasonably priced. Small so rsvp might be a good idea. Lunch & dinner menu. Great staff!

Last week we returned to the Slice of Life for dinner, having thoroughly enjoyed it last year when we visited Martha's Vineyard. I had the fried green tomatoes and the pistachio chicken. They were both amazing and the quantity of food was truly over the top (this dish could easily be shared there was so much of it). The waitress was incredibly accommodating. This restaurant is number 1 on our list of places to eat each summer when we return to Oaks Bluff.

In April, the places to eat are not as abundant, so we decided to stop and try this place. It was ok, but just ok. i started with the claim chowder, wasn't impressed. Not sure if it's a regional thing, but i'm not real fond of a broth based chowda.... i prefer cream, and didn't even think to ask, so I was a little disappointed, it was pretty thin too, but it was good. Husband had the broccoli soup, and it was thin as well, with no big chunks of broccoli. Then I had the pan seared crab cakes for entree. They were pretty good as well, but full of "filler". I'm more used to a lump crab not just lots of filler and a little crab, especially for the price we paid. Ended up with a carrot cake for dessert. haven't tried that yet, we took them home instead, because we were both stuffed. Compared to everyplace else we've eaten this week on MV, i'm sorry to say I'd have to give this place a 3/5. Had I not had other food to compare it to, and right around the same price point, I'd have given a higher mark i'm sure. But there are much finer foods to be found in MV, even in off-season.
