We just returned home from a stay at Bass Rocks Ocean Inn and we can't stop thinking about it. The Inn is spotless and the rooms are so comfortable with the most breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. The staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. The rooms are equipped with a coffee maker, refrigerators, comfortable beds and fluffy soft towels. Complementary Poland Spring water. Unlimited fresh baked cookies. Excellent expanded continental breakfast. Bicycles for your viewing pleasure and enjoyment. Golf course in back with advance reservations. Heated pool, hot tub, fire pit, billiard room and other areas around the hotel where you could congregate with other guests. Impressive DVD library and free Wifi. It was just the perfect place to unwind. Minutes away from downtown Gloucester with fabulous restaurants and the Cape Ann Whale Watch which we also highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

Room tip: Room 205 (2nd floor with king bed) is on the end which makes it more private and close to the main lobby.

This is our third time back here. The rooms are very clean. The view is amazing. Breakfast is included and it is wonderful. The location is on the ocean but near everything it has a beautiful pool. Also a pool table in. The main house

Room tip: We love the rooms in the Stacy House

My husband and I really liked the Bass Rock Ocean Inn. Its location on the easternmost edge of Gloucester, directly on the Atlantic Ocean simply can’t be beat. The front of the hotel is quite lovely to look at (the back, which borders on a golf course, looks more like a motel but it’s not a big deal). The rooms are nicely appointed and offer everything you need including a sofa, desk, flat screen tv with many channels, a small refrigerator, coffee maker (the hotel supplies tea and Starbucks coffee as well as bottled water), iron and ironing board and an a/c unit that works like a charm. Yes, as other reviewers have noted, the bathroom is rather small; however, everything seems fairly new and is therefore in very good shape, and my husband and I managed just fine for the three nights we were there (and we have a 150 sq. ft. master bath at home). The view of the Atlantic Ocean is amazing and we really enjoyed sitting on the veranda in front of our room. I will say that we initially found it a bit odd and were a little put off by the “communal” nature of the veranda, as there are no dividers, so there is no privacy once you step from your room onto the veranda. Our neighbors were not around much, so this turned out to be a non-issue for us. The main house, which houses the lobby, breakfast room (free breakfast is offered until 10:30), living room and billiards room (as well as three rooms/suites upstairs), is charming and we enjoyed stopping in for coffee, tea and cookies, all offered throughout the day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to downtown Gloucester and lovely, historic Rockport is a few miles to the north. All in all, we had a wonderful stay, and would definitely return if we are ever back in the area.

Lovely property, unforgettable views, friendly staff and guests as well. Varying age groups.Listened to the waves all night. Rocky coastline directly accross from Inn. Loved the pool surrounded by glass so you could still see and hear the waves. Breakfast included freshly baked goods, main house is a beautiful historic building, pool table and small collection of magazines and books and games made everyone feel at home and comfortable. Firepit and wide comfy seats were perfect for winding down our busy days. Very clean and tasteful.

One of the nicest Inns we've stayed at. We stayed in the main Inn in a suite and you couldn't ask for anything better. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were not the uncomfortable foam type. The television was a great size, around 46" so we were very pleased to be able to watch the Sox games at night. We stayed 3 nights and we slept well every night. The kitchen area has all you need; a microwave, fringe with ice maker, dishes and silverware. The living room has a comfortable love seat and chair and also a desk with two chairs. The bathroom, while not large, was big enough so you didn't feel like you were falling over the toilet. In the afternoon there are homemade chocolate chip cookies that are delicious. A breakfast is offered to all guests and it was a very nice selection. Coffee, teas, yogurt, breads, muffins, fruit, cheeses, quiche to die for, cereals and that's all I noticed but I may have missed something. There is a heated pool outside, although we did not swim. The view from our suite was incredible of the ocean. Definitely would come back here to stay, first class.

Room tip: We stayed in a suite which was comfortable and charming.
