“This home was beautiful, serene, well-equipped, as well as an easy drive to beaches, shopping, and dining”
Reviewed 7 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

My husband of 50 years and I had looked for a place to rent that was an easy drive to beaches and Boston. This home was perfect for us: clean, very well-equipped and overall, a terrific place to relax, have some of our children and grandchildren come for short visits, and to explore some restaurants and shops in this part of The Cape. We even got together with a few old friends who live in Falmouth, and a couple from Wellfleet.

Shopping and restaurants were close by, but the location of this home was private and serene...a home, not a cottage...set in a private, lushly landscaped setting.

It was a pleasure to be here

Liked best: It was a well-stocked home, not a cottage. For us, a great location. The hosts were obviously experienced at providing a welcoming place with good service.
Liked least: Nothing!

Pond House accepts pets and welcomes families with the guidance typical of a B&B. Kitchen plaque jokes, "B&B: You make the beds and you make the breakfast".

Located near Craigville beach and Four Seas (our favorite ice cream place -- and, there is a LOT of good ice cream on the Cape), this home is between exits, 5 and 6 on Route 6. It's not luxury, but it isn't booked that way either. It is CLEAN and well-kept (especially given that they allow pets). It is comfortable. The high ceiling in the family room, which is attached to the dining area and kitchen in a relatively open L-shaped floor-plan, makes it feel larger than the square-footage. The "downstairs" bedroom is actually on the main floor of the home with the family-room/kitchen/dining area. There is a full bath on this floor as well.

The upstairs rooms (master bedroom with it's own small balcony) and room across the hallway (in the fashion of what realtors here call a "Cape-style" home). Full-bath on this level is shared by master and kids room (bunk beds).

The pond that is through the woods was great fun for our dog to run around -- very small and evaporating to some degree, but still visible through the trees when we were there in August. Our dog is not a swimmer, so I can't tell you whether this would be an option at this house.

The owner provided lots of tourist guidance. The family/living room had a map book of the Cape for your use in finding your way around the Cape, a guide book, and lots of tourist information (although the information center was just around the corner).

The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac and the neighborhood was lovely for walking our dog (although, no sidewalks) -- streets were very quiet, so the lack of sidewalks didn't feel like any kind of a safety problem.

Washer/dryer in the basement came in handy. There were a couple of small beach chairs and boogie boards and sand toys in the basement, too.

Liked best: Owner's helpful hints and the fact that we could bring our dog and beach pass with beach stuff in the home.
