We paid in excess of $260 a night for a room and were given a room in an annex building with tired motel like rooms and a window air conditioner in the bathroom. The room was small and very noisy. The beach in front of the hotel was crowded and the area surrounding the hotel was loaded with bars and junk shops. People out on the lawn in front of our room were partying and making lots of noise well past midnight. We were awakened and I had to go out and ask them to quiet down. I would NEVER stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

We visited Union Bluff Hotel on a whim with a 3 year old and 2 month old. This hotel was a best case scenario for us. It is on the beach, no lugging our things back and forth between hotel and beach. I could literally sit on the hotels grassy lawn area which runs into the sand, and watch my husband and 3 year old playing in the waves and sand, while i stayed nice and comfy with the baby in a lounge chair, just steps from the air conditioned hotel and all the comforts we could ask for. The hotel room itself was also ideal. We purchased a room on the back of the hotel (no ocean view), which allowed for two very comfy queen beds, there was even a closet between the beds which created a divider of sorts--perfect when half the family wants to wake up early, while the other half wants to sleep in. Very clean, nice restaurant, even the toiletries were greatly appreciated and better than expected. This hotel is perfectly situated to beach, restaurants and the Wild Kingdom.

Room Tip: you can't go wrong, we were near the elevator and never were disturbed by any noises.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 days this August. They do a nice job. Clean, well run, great pub and restaurant! The outstanding feature is the location. Literally on the beach and well within walking distance on anything you could want for meals or entertainment. a throwback to the 60's-70's with no big brands or franchises. All Mom and Pop places and very friendly. Great place to stay! The only weakness is the internet connection but that might have more to do with the location rather then management.

Once again, my family was treated to a very nice dinner in their pub. Great food, great service, reasonably priced.
Let's not forget the great view of short sands beach as well. You can watch the ocean from your table in a very relaxing environment. We visit every year and are never disappointed!

The Union Bluff has the best view on Short Sands in York Beach Maine! The hotel accommodations are excellent and they have inside and outside dining along with a spectacular function hall for special events! You won't be disappointed! And they are open year round!

Room Tip: Corner room with sunken jacuzzi
