I first visited Charlotte's long ago, after dark when it was a lowly ice cream stand. The lights flickered and buzzed and it reminded us of a Stephen King story in the making. Soon after, it emerged as Charlotte's. (We've followed Charlotte to other eateries in the past). What is it like? It's simply fun and fantastic. Like an outdoor diner - it's edgy, with an amazing menu and home style cooking. My recent visit found a crowd, but as I ordered just a lobster roll with slaw, it was out to me in no time! This is an award winning drive in (Downeast) and deserves a stop on your trip around the Park. Staff is friendly, with smiles on their faces all summer. With their long season, the Lobster Pound, complete with lots of outdoor seating, games for the kids, and vintage playlist is a Mount Desert classic. Take out to the Seawall and breathe in the view of forever!
