sure worth to pay a visit to John Hardy to witness how hundreds of workers handmade every single jewelry item.... it is just simply incredible craftsmanship! The complimentary lunch with their senior executives gave you a chance to learn more about the company culture. highly recommend this extraordinary experience.

We were met by our guide at the port, and drove to Ubud to purchase bracelets at the factory. However, the price was fair trade and the same price as at home. No bargains here. We took the catalogues from the states with us to compare and did not buy in Ubud.
The best part of the day was at the Ubud Monkey Forest.

We took a free tour of the John Hardy workshop in Ubud followed by some shopping in its showroom. John Hardy provides complimentary pick-up from and return to our hotel in an air conditioned SUV. We first started with the factory tour which was fascinating mainly because of the description of the extent to which John Hardy goes to be environmentally friendly in its practices. All silver used in its jewellery is silver recycled from discarded cellphones! They even grow rice on the workshop property. The pieces they had on display in the showroom were beautiful and there were several cases of sale items which were very good value. We were also advised of an increased discount to 50% instead of 30% if one purchased a regular priced item from the current collection together with an on sale item and one of our party took advantage of this to purchase a ring and a bracelet at a really good price.

We visited John Hardy for the workshop tour and lunch which we prearranged via email from the USA. It was worth it! The tour is interesting, as you get to see the artisans at work and then you finish off the experience at the boutique. If you love John Hardy jewelry, there are many pieces to choose from, some of which I haven’t seen at home. Following the boutique visit, we had a lovely Balinese lunch with the management team. My children enjoyed this experience as well. If we return to Bali, we will definitely visit again. One note, if you plan on visiting and making a purchase, bring a copy of your passport, as you can reclaim 10%VAT when leaving Indonesia.
