Best waiter are there. Thanks to Jhova y and Isaias. They were very carefully with us and they provide us a high quality service during the lunch. I recomend this restaurant in which you will find your hapiness for sure. Donne hesitate and let’s go. You will not regret

The Catalonia Playa Maroma is a beautiful resort - we loved how it was built into the jungle and felt like we were living among nature. The beach was gorgeous (loved how they left the palm trees on the beach to provide shade) and the food was overall very good. The staff were lovely and friendly. I would give the resort itself 5/5 stars.
However, the one negative experience we had was that we were invited to attend a special presentation from their "Exclusive Travelers Club," with a promise of a $1000 credit off our next Catalonia stay as a thank you for attending. The ETC representative told us explicitly that the credit was good for any of the 70+ Catalonia properties around the world and good for two years (i.e., through August 2026). We attended, spent an entire morning of our stay with the ETC team (because it just kept going on and on and on) and at the end the "credit" we were given was not at all what we had been promised - good only through December 2024 (i.e., four months), only for their Mexican and Dominican resorts, and the "discount" was a lower rate on the highest-possible nightly rates of the year. We reached out multiple times to the ETC team both during our stay and afterward to see if they would make it right, and they refused. It feels like we were scammed.
I should have known that it would be more like a scummy timeshare presentation, but they really made it sound like a rewards or resort loyalty program when they initially told us about it. The actual "club" is a membership that costs $11,000+ up front as a minimum and gives you nebulous "discounts" on future travel.
Anyway, I highly recommend the Catalonia Playa Maroma resort itself, but the Exclusive Travelers Club is a scam and you should immediately ignore any invites from them.

WOW WOW WOW. THE BEACH THE FOOD THE SERVICE. me and my wife loved every minute of it We’re the chill out relax holiday people and you get this here in spades. The beach is picture postcard perfect. White sand clear blue sea amazing. Best beach we’ve seen. The food was fresh and tasty in all restaurants special mention for the Italian the carbonara was beautiful. The a la cart buffet restaurant has so much choice and could have different meals every lunch and dinner for 2 weeks. All good quality. Wife is a quite fussy eater and never had a problem finding something she liked. There’s also great choice at lunch at restaurants near pool if you didn’t want to leave pool/ beach area. Pizza chicken wings tortillas and much more. Special mention for burger van too. Now for the staff who are brilliant. All the staff cleaners gardeners shop staff waiters bar staff entertainment team are happy smiley and always greet you with a smile and ola or beunas Dias. My wife is normally ready to go home at the end of a 2 week holiday but in last day said I wanna stay another week! We absolutely loved our holiday that much. The atmosphere at this resort was so relaxed. Just what we needed from a holiday. The only negative we have is the coati. My advice if you have a pool/beach bag make sure it’s a zip one because they will get in to see if there’s food in there. After couple of days it was easy to get round this problem by choosing where you choose to eat food when round the pool.

We just had dinner at Adelita for the 2nd time during our trip and Isabel was our waitress both times. She was so amazing, attentive and personable. I highly recommend this resort and restaurant. The staff is always smiling. We had the ceviche as an appetizer both times!

#1 AC in both rooms we used never pulls the temperature down below 78 F leaving a warm muggy room that’s impossible to rest in.
#2. Buffet restaurant has the same sub par food every meal. No seafood. Not much fish.
#3 Food for lunch by the pool is awful. Such as thick crust pizza with very little cheese or toppings. Fish tacos with zero seasoning that tasted like old oil.
#4 beach chairs are arm to arm right up next to each other with no room and no thatched umbrellas. The palm trees are thin and don’t do much to shade.
It really feels like this place is trying to get by on the cheap.
All in all I have never been this miserable on vacation. I’m only on day two and wish we were leaving tomorrow. (We have 4 more days)
I have been to other places on the Riviera Maya, Aruba and the Dominican Republic. I was really looking forward to this vacation and what a disappointment.
Stay ANYWHERE else and it would be better.
