Soooo hospitable!!!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Jan 2017
We stayed for a week in our tent in December. My partner was on holiday from work - I had to commute for 3 days. We have stayed there previously under the old owner and wasn't very impressed with his level of customer service. My how things have changed!! When we checked in we had probably the warmest welcome we have ever had in a campground in NZ. The lady in reception is just lovely.Your classic Kiwi campground - nothing fancy but hospitality makes up for everything, the bonus was the showers used to take money, the showers have been refurbished and the whole place is a happy place to be. So close to Auckland. We love it and we will be back!!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet spot and you won't be disappointed!

Had a great time staying here over the xmas period with the family, rooms we hired are basic but have the essentials, the public showers, kitchen, toilets etc all well maintained too. Lovely walks down the beach and around the venue too!

This is the best place to stay arriving to New Zealand via Auckland or prior to leaving for home. You can relax, plan your next move, recuperate from jet lag. Nice appointed cabins, motels and camping ground. Showers/toilets blocks are cleaning. The kitchen is very functional. But the best; it is on the beach and also facing the bay. About 1 hour from the Airport. Golf course is across the bay. Staff is amazing and friendly. A must on your list of place to stay.

Room tip: Get cabin G no kitchen but the view of the bay and amazing

It's a hard road finding somewhere that will let you stay with pets in Auckland. It gets made harder when a facility accepts your booking for 3 nights over Christmas, then calls you back to tell you that they have a minimum 5 night stay at that time of year. Not advertised anywhere on the site, not mentioned when you phone because when travelling with pets you always call to check everything will be okay. Expecting a minimum stay of 5 nights is absurd and something I've encountered nowhere else.

The camp is experiencing high demand for pet friendly sites particularly over the Christmas period. This is a peak season for the camp and as with other camps in the country we have set a minimum stay period at this time.
This booking was taken by our staff and an error was made. The error was brought to your attention within hours and the extra nights were offered to you. It was therefore your decision at that point not to take up the booking and you cancelled. A refund was made straight away. We have provided a statement on our website regarding the times that we have minimum night bookings. This is under 'camping and powered sites' in the accommodation section. It is not factually correct to state that it is not advertised.
We remain committed to being a pet friendly camp but at peak time want to ensure our patrons can make full use of all of the days, smaller bookings limit the opportunities for others.
We have done everything possible with this booking to rectify the error and have been treated unfairly by the person who wrote this review.

Lovely view just by the beach. Amenities was clean. Didn't like the fact that there were quite a number of odd job foreign workers staying here, and were using the kitchen to cook their dinner and next few days worth of food. Had to pay to get hot water from the showers and the games room closed pretty early here, coupled with the fact that gate closes early and no cars are allowed in after 9pm, so that was essentially nothing to do late at night.

As camp owners we focus on ensuring we maintain a safe and peaceful environment for our campers. This does mean we do close the gates at 9 pm during week days, and 10 pm on the weekends. This is in order to minimise movement of traffic while people are trying to sleep. We would add that we have extended the numbers of after hours car parks and that it is a very short walk to our facilities. In the case of motor homes, we encourage people to let us know if they are going to something late and arrange to let them in when they get back.
Our large communal kitchen is available to all campers and can be busy at times. During busy periods we have developed extra facilities to meet the demand.
The showers are in the process of being upgraded and in the near future we will no longer charge for our showers.
The games room has a time frame to ensure the campers nearby are ensured peace and quiet, however it is often opened for special requests such as rugby games etc.

We had a lovely stay at Clarks beach Holiday Park enjoying the beautiful scenery on the harbour coastline. The camping ground was a quiet and peaceful place to stay for a break away from the city. The hosts Suzanne and Gavin went out of their way to make our holiday a great week. It was a clean and tidy camp with good facilities at a very reasonable price. There are plenty of places to walk around the peninsula and enjoy the great sunrises and sunsets. Good fishing if you have a boat or you can fish off the point. A great place to relax. Although we had no children it would be a good place for kids as well.
There are little chalets with a view straight out over the harbour.

Room tip: The small chalets have a great view over the sea.
