The problems with this hotel start right at the front door. You are welcomed by a grimy door with layers of gobbed on and now peeling paint. This is representative of our entire stay. We stayed two days.

Room problems:
-Stained Carpets
-Broken Kitchen cabinet door (hanging on by one hinge)
-Doors and trim are all worn

Breakfast problems:
-Were out of most of the offered items or ran out of what they had
-Tables and floor were dirty and trash was full
-Only accommodates 24 guests (so yes very crowded).
-Only one employee trying to keep what food they had stocked and the place clean

Staff problems:
-Asked for the broken cabinet door to be fixed, it didn't happen
-Asked for an extra blanket and was told I'd have to run down to the front-desk to get it.

I've seen dirtier and more run-down hotels, but never one associated with a major brand (Hilton, Marriot, Best Western, Holiday-Inn express, etc). I would avoid this hotel for sure. They had a sign up showing Trip Advisor recommended in 2011. I imagine it was a nice hotel 7 years ago, but 7 years of neglect have ruined it.

Room Tip: I wouldn't stay here

The hotel check in was smooth and easy. Unlike most hotels the main entrance is not huge, just a Welcome sign. The room is well laid out, with a full mini-kitchen (with oven)
so full meals could be prepared here. Plates, glasses and flatware are provided. Although we did not use the kitchen, it could be very helpful if you are trying to save the cost of eating out. They also have gas grills outside for cooking. Eating in your room would be a bit of a challenge as table tops are at a premium.
There is a good work place with plenty of plugs.
The bed was comfortable, especially if you like a softer bed. The TV can be watched from the couch, but can then spin to watch from the bed. It looks a bit awkward.
The area has a large shopping center nearby, Elmwood Plaza. There are several different types of restaurants in the general area. We walked over to the mall and felt safe along the way.
This hotel is a bit older, but still functional and in good repair. The breakfast room was a bit crowded, but it comes and goes. Both hot and cold foods are served, including fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cereal selections and fried eggs and sausage. Several coffees were available including decaf, house blend (in lobby) and dark roast- which tasted excellent.
Check out was easy and the front desk staff helpful. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Room 204 has the swimming pool outside- louder when the pool has kids yelling.

This hotel has a large movie theater next door along with a whole shopping center within walking distance. Stayed here prior to our cruise out of New Orleans. The hotel is a little older but still nice. Free hot breakfast is included-eggs, waffles, breads the usual items.

Room Tip: 2 bedroom suites are nice-beds are a double or queen

We stayed here after the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans and chose to stay outside the city this night since we knew we would be out late and leaving early in the morning. The hotel room was clean and fit our needs. However this is an older property and not updated like the new Towneplace Suites properties. The staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was a nightmare as the room is extremely small and was so crowded we were not able to get a place to sit to eat. The stay was fine for one night, but I'm not sure I would go back to this property.

........and I've accumulated 1.4 million Marriott points over 30 years of business travel. We were promised a room with two double beds and a sleeper sofa but they did not deliver so we had to buy two rooms for our group. We called the hotel THREE times to verify that the room had two double beds and a sleeper sofa. We walked in the room and found one king bed and a sofa bed. Above the sofa bed, room 409, was a missing photograph on the wall. Just hideous holes staring at us but no worries, we found most of the broken glass when we opened the sofa bed to use it. The fan cover in the bathroom was also hanging loose.

The customer service was below expectations with the exception of the young man that threw us out. He was kind. We asked for an extra night stay and after literally thousands of nights this is the first time ever I was denied by the front desk. So I asked for a late checkout to give me time to find another, non-Marriott hotel. I found out that Hyatt Place delivers the kind of service that at one time was common at Marriott. While I was searching a woman kept going to the door of the other room we rented and threatening our sons that they had 30 minutes to get out. They never came to my room but they repeatedly harassed my 20 year old kid and his friends, after agreeing to a late checkout.

The customer service and the poor condition did not come close to Marriott quality and you stay here at your own risk. And don't be surprised when they yell at you if you are a Platinum member. You have been forewarned.
