Did not know much about the Derby ,until we visited the Museum and track. We found it to be well worth the time to visit. We also learned things about the Derby we never knew. Do not leave without seeing the movie.

If you enjoy US history and the Kentucky Derby this place is for you and make sure you check out the film that they make each year that shows the raising of a Thoroughbred horse from birth to the derby, it is one of the best films that you will ever see, the museum and the tour are awesome, went week before derby and you get to see some of the horses that will be competing on the backside tour and how the people live, great tour and museum

We were just passing though and decided to stop at the museum and so glad we put this on our list of things to do. So worth taking the time to visit. We did the walking tour that is included in the cost of the entrance fee. We would have liked to do the longer tour, however it was fan week (week of the Derby) and some parts of the longer tour were closed to the public. Totally understandable. The walking tour did get us into the grandstands so we did get to see the field. The museum is full of history and worth taking the time to read the displays and watch the videos. We would love to go back with friends and family.

We were there on a special day honoring famous trainers and jockeys, but it wouldn’t matter. Exhibits tell a great story of the race, but are also educational about the racing industry and the thoroughbred breed for non horsey types, too. Something for everyone and the ticket includes a walking tour if Churchill Downs including a trip to the winners circle.

The walking tour was amazing a definite highlight to our trip because of the prep for the Derby. The horses were being exercised and it was amazing to experience such a historic site!
