Oh my......

Review of Te Arai Lodge
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Dec 2024
Oh my.... Sooo many good things to say. We had our three children and their partners and it was an incredible stay. Our hosts were uber friendly, helpful, and hospitable. Wonderfully flavorful fresh meals take on new meaning when you can see the plants outside your window or the milking cow across the way. The house was kept spotless (which even one of our neatness challenged children couldn't overcome). The gym and the inversion table (for my cranky back) were put to great use as was the pool and sauna. And a great location to boot with nearby wonderful beaches for walking, bathing or surfing as well as magnificent walks. Thank you so much Kathy, Doug, super chef Nicola (and great sidekick Annie) and the whole incredible team !!

Simply outstanding location, setting, lodging, food and an almost invisible set of hosts that were there whenever you needed them. We will certainly visit again to enjoy this wonderful lodge and its superb hosts.

Every bite, every plunge, every yoga pose, or considered accessory or kind guidance and wonderful conversation- every moment of our stay at Te Arai was pitch perfect. With such consummate hospitality, and beautiful encouragement and design to make you feel you are a part of the family, the experience is both luxury AND comfortable. And yet, it’s much more luxurious than my own home! No shortcuts have been taken on creating an atmosphere of sumptuousness. The pillow menu, the lush linen robes, the nightly specialised chocolate from local artisans… little details to build a divine holiday. Will we back? Definitely, even if it’s just to grab a slice of Rebecca’s olive oil, lemon and rosemary cake.

From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcome. The ambience at Te Arai Lodge is wonderful, the service outstanding and the food absolutely delicious. The rooms are very spacious with the best amenities. Privacy is assured if that is what you want but the staff are on hand just when you need them. Choose a package with dinner included or drive 15 minutes to Mangawhai or 45 minutes to Matakana.

Our family of 12 spent Christmas with Vince Cathy,Nicola and Doug, we arrived at the beautiful lodge on the 23ed of Dec and stayed until the afternoon of the 30th and i would describe our stay as exceptional, the rooms and facilities are world class.

Nothing was to much trouble and the many requests of our combined group including twin 4 year old dynamos were met with a smile and grace, we can not speak highly enough of the hospitality and attention to detail.

The food was outstanding with the families focus on sustainability many of the ingredients are from Cathys large garden or from local providers with similar beliefs .
with Vince and Nicola creating wonderful meals in the open kitchen with support from Cathy and Doug and what an amazing Christmas Lunch .WOW

So 10out of 10 and would we come again ? most certainly yes

Room tip: each room is fantastic

WOW! Thank you for such a generous review! It was a joy to accomodate you all and to be part of celebrating your special family Christmas. We're so happy you enjoyed you time with us in Te Arai as much as we enjoyed hosting and meeting you all. And yes, the "dynamos" certainly kept us on our toes and were very entertaining! We would love to have you visit again soon and wish you all a wonderful year ahead. :)
