An easy jet, puddle jumper and boat ride to this tropical island with incredible staff (Marcos and his staff treated us like VIPs) and wonderful guests. Charming and comfortable cabanas, great food, fun excursions. The ATM cave tour was one of the best adventures of our life. Well definitely come back soon.

After traveling around Belize for 10 days my husband and I stayed at Yok Ha for 5 nights for some R&R. And it was perfection!! If you want true peace and relaxation, you can do no better than Yok Ha Resort. The island is tiny, with only 5 cabanas, so there is never more than 10 or so people on the resort. The whole time we were there the most guests, including us, was 8. The service is great, Jaime, Marcus, Fernando, and Danny did everything they could to accommodate anything we needed or wanted. Ezra is a genius in the kitchen and makes everything from scratch. Absolutely delicious meals! We took out the kayaks a couple times just to cruise around and appreciate the splendor, and spent the rest of the time relaxing. The snorkel to Long Caye was great, and my husband went spearfishing and they brought back enough lobster to feed everyone at the resort. All in all it was an absolutely perfect stay.

If you want lot's to do, or even wi-fi in your room or a TV for that matter, look elsewhere. This is not the place for you. This is a place to disconnect with the world, and re-connect with what really matters!

Room tip: Stay in Loa, the Honeymoon Suite! It is set back in the mangroves, has an outdoor shower and it's out deck over the water!

A couple of months ago my wife and I were looking for a relaxing, secluded vacation for just the two of us. A friend sent us a link to Yok Ha and after reading reviews and looking at some pictures, we booked the trip. We arrived in Belize City and within an hour we had taken a prop plane and landed in Dangriga. It would be a couple of hours before the boat would arrive to take us to the island so we were dropped off at the Pelican Beach Resort. We were offered drinks but we decided to just lay on some lounge chairs right on the water. The breeze was wonderful and it was very relaxing after a day of travel. Eventually a van arrived and took us to the main office where we met Wilfred (the friendly and gracious owner) and headed out after boarding a small boat. You need to know that in the evening many times the winds really pick up. The ride was BUMPY but we loved the adventure! We were headed to an island that we could not see yet and it was almost dark (the staff use GPS to guide them in the dark). When we arrived we were greeted with fresh fruit drinks by Jamie. He took us to our deluxe cabana and helped us get settled in. We hurried because it was dinner time and ran to eat. There were a few other people staying on the island that greeted us and everyone was very friendly. The next morning, all the other guests departed before we woke up and my wife and I realized we had the entire island to ourselves. It was also our first time seeing the island during the day. It was very small and secluded... just what we wanted!!! After a great breakfast we grabbed two kayaks and headed across to another island. We tied the kayaks to a mangrove tree and snorkeled all the way around the island. We snorkeled around several islands over the next few days. We saw lots of fish, starfish, some coral and even a nurse shark. A group arrived on our second night. They were friendly enough with us but seemed quite displeased with the accommodations (and everything else for that matter) but we felt right at home. Jamie was our server for most of the trip and we really enjoyed our time with him. We also went scuba diving with Abi and Fernando at Turneffe Reef. It was truly an awesome experience. These two gentlemen were very patient and helpful. We spent 5 nights on the island and we loved every moment. I would mention, this may not be a spot for everyone. As others have mentioned, the excursion prices are quite expensive. We’ve traveled quite a lot and these were some of the highest prices I’ve ever seen. You also can’t just leave without paying for a boat ride each direction. There are not places to go for a walk or to go shopping. BUT if you are looking for seclusion, relaxation, sunshine, water, hospitality and good food... then Yok Ha is the place for you!

If you're looking for a relaxing, secluded getaway with gorgeous views, helpful and friendly staff, delicious food, and a variety of things to do, Yok Ha is it! This was such an incredible vacation for us; we spent some days on the island, kayaking, snorkeling, and reading on the porch of our cabana overlooking the water, and other days exploring Mayan ruins, going ziplining and cave tubing! Absolutely wonderful experience!!!

Sounds much better on paper than what we experienced. Was there for a week as a group. Very disappointing to us veteran tropical locale travelers. Food quantity, quality and preparation was very poor. The resort is serviced by one small boat for all activities and transport. Day trippers from the mainland shared the tiny resort. Scuba Diving prices were extremely high. Excursions were pricey. Amenities are very limited. Island is surrounded by mangroves and turtle grass flats so don’t expect to snorkel a reef nearby. Inadequate kayaks. No paddle boards. Honeymoon cottage has the only outdoor shower. Staff did their best and did try to accommodate. I suggest looking elsewhere.
