Food not bad but service a little slow for 1 pm on a Monday. Food was very good except the Blarney sandwich...eay too greasy.

We have been coming to South Bend for 14 years on a yearly business trip. Our go-to dinner has always been O'Rourke's. Last year we had a bad experience but said, nope we will give them another try. Well, we shouldn't have. The hostess hated her job and never even smiled. The server was ok, but they were a little flighty. We wanted a relaxing dinner but it was not that. We ordered double whiskies, and only one came out a double. We ordered an appetizer, and it never came out. When it finally did, the server brought it with the dinner. The cheese curds were cold. They did take it off the bill, but the way that they do it, we still ended up paying a 20% tip on the cheese curds being taken off. Then, when she came to give us our bill, she hands you the machine so you have to do it with the server standing there. There is no more 10%, 15%, 20%,.. now it is 20%, 22%, and 25%. Because this is a business trip, we needed the receipt to submit to our company. We asked for a printed receipt, and they never brought it. I had to go up to the bar and ask for it. Unfortunately, we will not be back.
When we first entered the restaurant, the hostess clearly was unhappy so we were wondering if we made a bad choice for dinner. However, that was the only issue, and we had a great time! The rest of the staff were great. Our chicken broccoli boxty was amazing, and the bread pudding was delicious. They have good options for local beers and a huge whiskey selection. The atmosphere was fun.
This was a very good Irish pub and restaurant. Good draft beer selection. Good good. Fun atmosphere. Great prices. Right across from Notre Dame.
Good variety of dishes and generous portions. Interesting interior decor plus patio seating. We were greeted and served promptly. Would be a great place to watch the big game. Only complaint: they put cinnamon and sugar on the sweet potatoes waffle fries.
