The staff here is SO INCREDIBLY FRIENDLY! Everyone greets you and asks about your stay. They are genuinely kind and hard working. I was impressed. And the valet workers were great as well. Nice space to work in the lobby. Workout room was clean and nice. All good here!
I've had rude treatment before, but this place is over the top. We have trying to book a meeting room for a day for the past week and have not had much luck. They have trouble answering the telephone. They have not returned several voice messages and now the front desk person hangs up on me when I call yet gain to try to give this place some business.
I have always been a Marriott fan, but this was my worse experience. I am a Titanium member, and requested late check-out at 4 pm. At 10 am, there was a knock on the door asking if I were checking out. I told them I was leaving at 4pm. About an hour later, another housekeeper comes and again, I am asked when I am leaving! I informed them again that I had late check-out at 4pm. Then, I get a phone call around 2pm, asking when I am leaving! I WAS LIVID. I decided to pack my things and just leave. The front desk only offered to let me sit in a conference room once I got downstairs. The audacity. I will never stay at this location again.
Lovely hotel, clean, quiet, nice amenities. The staff was great, rooms are spacious. The pool was fantastic. The only thing I would knock off is if you are a woman travelling alone, the parking situation isn't ideal. The valet is discontinued right now due to pandemic, and the only parking lot is a tiny one behind the hotel next to the alley, if that's full you have to park across the street at the century center parking lot that is DARK and not monitored. My daughter and I were accosted crossing the street by an unsavory gentleman at 1030 pm at night, scared the life out of us, luckily a brunos driver showed up and he stepped away, but it did make us purchase pepper spray for the duration of our visit. I expressed my concern to the night clerk.
The staff, location and amenities of this Courtyard location were AMAZING for our family. From Melissa who served us breakfast, remembered later to ask how our son's team did in his hockey game that day, and offered to be ready with coffee the next morning when I mentioned the next game was at 6 am, to the front desk team who welcomed us. There's a FOOTBALL field* that kids can play on across the street, a chocolate store, amazing breakfast places with pancakes and french toast, all steps from the hotel entrance! (*The former College Football Hall of Fame was in South Bend.) My son asked if we could just live in this hotel. The Art Museum is across the street as well.
