Babylonstoren is a huge wine estate with lots of charm. There are farm animals, beautiful gardens where they grow all of their produce, and a lovely clear-glass wine tasting room where you can overlook their property.

Definitely recommend this as a stop for first timers in the region as it showcases the South African wine-farm experience at it's best!

This Inn is amazing and exceeded my expectations. I traveled here with friends before we went on a safari. It was the best decision we made. The farm to table dining including pizza night at the bakery and dinner at Babel, along with breakfast was exceptional. Not to mention their delicious wines and olive oil. Walking around and being able to pick guava's off of the trees and eat them was surreal. It encourages a healthy lifestyle. They have bikes for use 24/7 to ride around the garden and winery and canoes to take out. The rooms were super cute, nice and clean! Also, the guided walks and rides were fabulous. Everyone, all of the staff including reception, house keeping, spa, farmers, winery, waitresses, and guides were so welcoming, helpful and kind - paid attention to every detail and always had a smile on their face. I cannot wait to go back!! Is a bucket list must for sure!

Room Tip: Any room is great! I don't think you can go wrong here!

People thought I was nuts for taking my 10 year old to wine country while in South Africa, but our travel company highly suggested Babylonstoren. First, the weather was oddly good while we were there - may have added to the magic. Second, what a beautiful property. We had a two bedroom cottage that was very well appointed. Lovely, comfortable, touches of luxury, but still very apparent we were on a farm. Third, there are so many things to do. We went out with a gardener (Thea) and learned all about plants and got to help pick things FOR the restaurant. My daughter LOVED it. We baked bread with grain they actually grow on the farm. My daughter got to groom the donkeys. The food was inspired - such good use of the land and what it provides. I bought the cook book and lugged the giant thing home because I was so taken with the place.

Room Tip: Go with the cottages! Such charm, but very limited in number.

We spent a couple of hours in that beautiful garden and what a treat. Mid winter and it’s still enchanting. Thank you for keeping this garden so beautifully. Always a pleasure. We joined my husband and son in the beautiful tasting room for an MCC tasting and that was a perfect end to our visit.

The pic is two teenagers in the healing garden. Bliss.
