We had stayed here about 5 years ago but had forgotten how perfect Mermaids Cave is. It has everything you need and a fantastic view to Seasalter beach and the changing tides. Great sea swimming when the tide is in. Although it is near to bustling Whitstable, there are very few people walking past and it has a great feeling of peace. The only problem was that we only had two nights here. Next time it will be longer.
We have visited Mermaid's Cave a number of times with our two boys (8 and 13). The boys love it as much as we do, with easy access to the beach and Whitstable a stones throw away. The sunsets are stunning and the sun coming up over Whitstable is equally beautiful. Steven and Clare are super helpful even though they aren't local and where there is an issue they will do all in their power to help. The property is well equipped and comfortable.
We spend a weekend in July at Marmaids Cave. Weekend is not enough to explore beauty of Kent county. The house itself is fantastic, it has everything you need. It is super well equipped + it's kids friendly. A huge terrace gives a view over the sea and it's beyond romantic to meet sunsets there. We loved our stay at Marmaids Cave and we can advise it for anybody who is searching for a spot to have a calm weekend with a family/ friends. Thank you, Steve and Clare for this amazing get away!
What a perfect place to spend a few days watching the tides and the birds, and doing a jigsaw provided by the property!
We found everything about the Mermaid's Cave utterly lovely. As a food writer, the kitchen was just perfect for cooking up delicious local produce, and we spent my birthday evening at the superlative Sportsman just up the road. If you are coming to stay here, booking there early is recommended. It's Michelin starred, but the food isn't priced as it would be in London, that's for sure. A real treat.
I'm not sure that Patsy D who left a review here in July arrived at the correct property! We found the Mermaid's Cave utterly spick and span and lovely. Both my texts to the owner asking silly questions about the DVD player and the heating were answered with super speed. I would highly recommend the Mermaid's Cave as a lovely holiday hideaway. Even in December it was super cosy.

I stayed in Mermaids cave for a long weekend with my Husband, teenage daughter and Dog.
It was absolutely stunning being able to open the back doors in the morning and have the sea right there on our doorstep. The weather was good so we took full advantage of the BBQ and Fire pit in the garden. Long walks down to Whitstable and Herne Bay were enjoyed immensely.
The cave itself is beautiful. Everything you need is there - they have thought of everything. Coal, firelighters, bottle openers even tea light for the candles. This really is a little gem of a find. We had a very relaxing stay and we will most definitely be going again. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous little bungalow xxxx
