Description: A restaurant in Evanston that serves our family and friends (both old and new) with amazing food and warm hospitality. We accompany that with a dedication and passion for locally sourced and market-driven ingredients, which is at the foundation of every dish on the menu. The result is a simple and ever-changing menu that delivers new and exciting flavors every day. A small bite and a beer is just as welcome as a formal dinner, and the menu is designed to deliver both.

Delicious meal in downtown Evanston, great dessert and $1 oysters on Wednesday!! We had a great bottle of wine, the crispy potatoes are to die for. Made reservations online. It was a wonderful evening!

Lunch is every bit as good as dinner, but much less expensive. I had a tofu dish, which was tasty (albeit not that plentiful)...hard to keep from eying my dining partner's corned beef with fried potatoes. It's all good.

Each dish was better then the next. Everything was delicious, fresh and thoughtfully made. Lots of very tasty combinations. Roasted asparagus with mustard was lovely. The pea soup with garlic scape was flavorful bordering on elegant. Fresh bread which was superb and butter at just the right temperature/consistency. Salad was fresh and tasty.

Not only is the food terrific, the service was too. Very friendly and approachable. What a treat!

1. When fairly full, its still way too noisy to hold a conversation. Had trouble hearing the server! And my hearing is excellent
2. For my taste, menu choices limited in all categories from appetizers to dessert.
3. Service is attentive.
4. Did not have enough time for roast chicken that takes 30 minutes to cook so we tried the hanger steak which was delicious.
5. I ordered the cold asparagus soup which was way too salty. To Boltwood's credit, it was removed from our bill.
6. Pricing: for some things fine dining prices without being a fine dining restaurant. Everything is á la carte, even bread and butter. Entrées are expensive and served with a minimum of accompaniments.
7. I indicated "Not Sure" below for whether restaurant is good for families, brunch, etc, because of the excessive noise level. If you don't mind not hearing the conversation at your table, then its okay.

This is a fun placed with interesting ingredient combinations which make into eclectic, delicious salads and entrees. Nice atmosphere.
