You won't find a better selection of fresh oysters in Chicago -- 12 kinds, usually 6 from each coast. You can't beat the food, but it's the service that service that has has going there a couple of times each month.

I isn't often that everything is excellent, but our dinner at Shaw's was indeed just right. The salads, entrees, drinks and dessert all were perfect. I happen to love the decor and atmosphere at this place, and we've been here several times before. But, again, we really enjoyed it.

We were in this restaurant following the good reviews here on tripadvisor and were not disappointed. It's a big restaurant and the decor is not what you would call fancy, BUT not only their sea food, but also their steak, dessert and wine was the best I've ever had - and I've been to many countries and places and a very picky foodie. Their service was impecable explaining us their dishes in detail and came up with a great wine recommendation. Yes, it's a bit pricy, but the experience is totally worth it! I will long remember this dinner and can only recommend to everyone to go there.

Delicious seafood gumbo as an appetizer and grilled red grouper entree. Their specialty of crab legs was too pricey at $70. The dessert sampler was great. There were 4 mini choices including creme brûlée, pecan pie, cheesecake and key lime pie. Its decor is 1940's and it was very crowded. Servers were good. It was about $100 per person including drinks.

We go to Chicago at least once a year and had never tried Shaw's. A friend recommended it. My husband and I loved it. We sat at the bar until our table was ready which allowed us both to get a drink. The restaurant was packed for a Thursday night which isn't surprising. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable. We asked for his recommendations and were quite pleased. My husband still raves about the tuna. The potions were great too. We both had soup, fish, and veggies. They brought us pie later as well. A slight mix up occurred, but it was handled speedily and gratuitously. You can tell a lot about a restaurant based on the staff. Being knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating are characteristics of an excellent restaurant. This includes everyone from the hosts to the door men. I'm glad we listened to our friends here in KC and tried Shaw's. We will definitely return!
