Definitely an interesting museum for looking at art from a different perspective. Most reviews say it takes about 45 minutes to complete and that is pretty accurate. They only take online tickets and the price is substantially higher than other musuems in Chicago. If you only have 1 day, spend it at the Field Museum or the Art Institute...you will spend a whole day of higher level learning rather than 45 minutes of a cotton candy experience.
If taking cool photos for your instagram feed is your thing, then this is the place for you. I’m not usually one to spring for a contemporary art experience like this, but it was interesting and held my attention for the duration of our visit. Most of the exhibits are interactive and had a digital component which was really cool. In our time in Chicago, this ticket was the second most expensive one that we purchased (right behind Shedd Aquarium) Do I think it was worth the price? Maybe. Like I said, if you love taking cool photos that you can post with your friends, you’re going to have a great time. I don’t think I would find a reason to come back here again, but for a “one and done” experience, I really can’t complain that much. You are encouraged to buy your tickets ahead of time for a certain time slot, but we were able to get in right when we got there (you can purchase tickets at the door) Staff was very friendly and the gift shop was well curated.
This was a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon in Chicago! WNDR was everything we hoped it would be! We were in town for a concert and decided to spend a couple of days exploring Chicago. I'd seen it was going to rain our last afternoon in town and thought this would be a good way to spend our last couple hours there. It was perfect. I'm 45, and my daughter and her friend are both 19, and we all had a great time. We even played an intense game of giant Uno in the lounge upstairs. They have giant Jenga, Giant Connect Four, and some other games, as well as some refreshments and adult beverages for sale. They had two people doing poetry for donation when we were there as well, which I thought was pretty cool. Overall, it was a fun experience!
Took our 3 year old daughter, she had fun, but this place is also a nightmare if you can't handle the "influencers in the wild". Way over priced as well at about $45 / ticket after fees.
Got some fun pics, was mildly entertaining, but also off-putting with lines at each installation of people looking to get their Insta pics.
Overall it was definitely a cool place HOWEVER way too short of an experience for how expensive it is. Wishing there was more. We went during their winter escape special event. When we got to the exit of the museum we had to go back and ask the employee where the special exhibit was. It ended up being just a video of lake Michigan in the winter. Extremely disappointing. The museum says 1-1.5 hours to navigate through but it was definitely more like 20-30 minutes at best.
Hello! Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry your experience was not what you expected.
Our museum space and exhibits were transformed for winter wonderland theme, Iced Inn, with the addition of the Iced Inn Lounge, you should've received a complimentary s'mores pass as part of our food and bev experience. Our exhibits for Iced Inn were thematically and visually chilly with icy blues and white hues. A lot of our exhibits require guest interaction and we apologize if you did not have the chance to experience it fully.
This was a waste of time. Several of the exhibitions were broken- sensors not noticing us standing in the correct position. The first room, blue room , seasonal fireplace and one other not working. This cost almost $200 for a family of 4 and we went over a year ago and it was awesome. This new change cut corners and was terrible. We spent more time waiting to go into an exhibit than seeing the entire place.
Go to Illusions or Color Factory instead.
Totally disappointing!
