Booked this restaurant based on the buzz we heard from the locals and it is so popular it took a few nights to get a table at the time we wanted. The view is spectacular which made the rest of the experience all the more disappointing. Check-in is multi-staged and clunky (with rather unfriendly hostesses), the bartender handed over two glasses of wine then asked us to clear our tab before we'd even sat down, the music in the dining room was loud and intrusive, the menu is poorly laid out and the service was poor - rushed, unhelpful and serving up appetizers before we'd even had a chance to order a bottle of wine. We did have our appetizer (which was quite good) but were so soured by the experience that we decided to leave (the first time we've ever done that). To their credit: the waiter did his best to try to turn things around and the manager took the trouble to catch up with us in the lobby to find out what had gone wrong. I think this is a case of a very young restaurant needing to smooth out the rough edges, because obviously others have had a great experience. Hopefully they can work out the kinks because the location is second to none. I'm not one to leave reviews like this (check my profile) but had to speak honestly about the experience.

Our office relocated to 444 West Lake Street. Gibsons Italia opened this year. It is quite the place after work as it is located near the Union Station and Ogilivie Station (train stations in Chicago). The menu items aren't spectacular. Not a lot of choices. You go here for the view and experience. Although, this week, I had a great risotto with blackened chicken. It comes with scallops. Because my dinner partner was allergic to fish, we replaced the scallops with blackened chicken. Definitely and after work place. They have a rooftop lounge as well. I now go there for drinks after work, not so much the dining the experience. The Gibsons on Rush seems to have better food.

Another winner from the Gibson’s Group. We all had the Cesar salad which was skimpy and disappointing.

The New York grass fed steak was great, no incredible. The veal Milanese was outstanding as were the meatballs.

The bar was large and packed.

Matt M. are wait person was outstanding and knowledgeable

We ate at Gibson's last week and were not at all impressed with our experience. I certainly would not go back or recommend it to others. We had asked for a table by the window and were lead to believe it would not be a problem. We arrived 30 minutes early and said we would happily wait in the bar for a table by the window, but in the end were not given by a table by the window. The main problem is how loud the music was. It was so loud everyone in the restaurant was trying to talk over the music and we could not hear the other people at our table. The food was mediocre, definitely not worth the high price. There are so many wonderful places to eat in the city, please do not waste your time or money at Gibson's unless you don't really want to talk to the people you're with.
