This place was awesome! If you love nature you will l,ove this property!!! We celebrated my sisters 40th birthday and it was perfect. It is close to Blue sky Winery which was breath taking and fun! We enjoy hangin on the deck and aroundthe fire pit! You will not be disapointed. We also hired Jillian from the Shawnee shuttle for our wine tour! She was amazing and gave us alot of histor about the area! Have fun and enjoy if you stay here!
We stayed at Firefly Valley as part of a 2 family vacation (2 couples and 4 children ages 2 thru 15).
We wanted to visit the area for the trails (wine trail and hiking trails). In looking for a cabin in the area there were a few good options but this stood out because it has 4 bedrooms and was in a great location. We found it has a lot of other great features as well.
The owner that I dealt with (Matt) was responsive and a great resource on the whole area. The house is central to the area attractions. It was about an hour from the Garden of the Gods and a little less from the Pomona bridge / Little Grand Canyon areas (opposite directions).
We had a lot to do for everyone. The wineries were very nice to visit. There are a wide variety. The kids loved the hiking trails, the lakes, and the nearby dungeon's and Dragons park. We also did horseback riding and blueberry and blackberry picking. It surprised me how well everything worked out.
The house overall is good and they were improving it. The best think about it is to me the location. Not just that it's centrally located to all the big attractions but that the property is extremely nice. Deer and Turkeys just walk up to the cabin. You don't see or hear anyone else. The kids loved to play on the deck.
Inside the house is very comfortable. For the most part everything is new inside. There were 8 of us and and there was enough room for all. We had plenty of hot water too. The air conditioning was good. cleanliness wasn't perfect but it was good. We had a few minor complaints but Matt was on top of any concerns. The downstairs bedroom wasn't 100% finished but it was the coolest in terms of nighttime temps. The upstairs bedroom can be a bit warm at night (we brought a fan and used it there to get some of the main room's cooling). Kids really seemed to like it there and were always looking out for the deer that walk around.
There were some minor negatives. It's not really built with a toddler in mind so there are a few areas where out son could get in trouble like the stairs (wide bannister) and the back door (easy for him to open). Also the tub drain didn't allow for baths but that could be by design. We cleaned a few things ourselves but we are probably more picky that most when it comes to that stuff. This place isn't roughing it by any means. Internet is hard to pick up in the area. We could barely get a 3g signal in the cabin on verizons network and I don't think other networks would work based on what the people we talked to said but can't be sure. It was good enough to get emails and stuff.
This place was a real find in my opinion and if we head back to that area we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. My daughter told me she wanted to live there when we had to leave.

The lodge at Firefly Valley is a beautiful home away from home. The owners have decorated the lodge in a comfortable inviting manner. The lodge was very clean and everything we needed was provided. We are anxious to return in the spring to visit the nearby wineries and to enjoy the view of the Shawnee Forest from the large wrap-around deck.
