We cannot praise the WHOLE operation and chef Allister Barsby highly enough.
The rooms, decor, welcome , atmosphere and gardens are perfect in every way and the FOOD is absolutely stunning.
We hardly ever had such a memorable and unforgettable experience from the very first moment : fantastic DRINKS , specially delicious and creative snacks and also an unforgettable amuse bouche. All this before we even started the actual menu which was a delightful and PERFECTLY composed three course meal !!

We recently spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel. We had heard great things about it and it certainly lived up to expectations. We were in one of the garden suites with our dog. It had a separate sitting room with log burner, sky tv and well stocked complimentary mini bar. The bathroom was gorgeous and the bedroom very comfortable. The weather was very cold when we were there and it was a cosy private retreat - we seemed to be the only guests not in the main building. The grounds were beautiful even in mid Winter and I imagine even more so in the summer.
The hotel was very dog friendly but not in a way that would affect non dog lover guests.
The breakfasts were superb - all a la carte with no buffet. On our first night we enjoyed an excellent dinner in the Artisan rooms, followed by another wonderful meal the next evening in the Fernery. We chose to eat again in the Fernery on our third night as we preferred the cosier ambience on a cold night but as the menu is small we regretted it a bit and would have preferred the wider less fussy Artisan menu in the Fernery restaurant.
The staff were all superb.
If I had to nit pick about anything it was the mark up on the wines. It was difficult to find much below £50 a bottle but the quality of what we did have ( at the lower end of the price scale) was good. It would have been nice to have had a fewer cheaper wines available. There was a wide selection of wines by the glass but again at high prices. This was a minor issue though as we had a fantastic stay and we would not hesitate to return.

This place is an absolute joy. It's so warm and welcoming. The staff clearly love it too - I have rarely heard such enthusiasm from employees

The ambience is country house hotel - lots of panelling and log fires. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom had a shower and a bath

The casual restaurant was very good. - charcuterie followed by a steak with some excellent NZ pinot

The tasting menu at the fine dining restaurant on our second night was one of the most enjoyable meals we have had in a long time. The wine flight was outstanding - possibly the best we've had in the UK. The sommelier is knowledgable and approachable and I would urge you to utilize her expertise. The reisling from eastern Europe and the south African merlot were particularly memorable

We look forward to returning when the weather is better and cocktails can be taken in the garden

Thanks to all the staff for your lovely service

Thank you for your kind words. It is so lovely to read your comments especially with regards to the team's "enthusiasm"!
I have passed on your feedback to the team, who truly appreciated it , especially our sommelier Catriona! Both the Merlot and Riesling you mentioned are firm favourites indeed!
We look forward to having you back in Spring or Summer for a cocktail or two in the garden.

We stumbled across the Fernery Restaurant at the Grove by accident during a recent winter break in Pembrokeshire and were delighted we did! We don't usually go for tasting menus (usually more about the chef's ego than the diners' pleasure..!) but s it included the dishes we were struggling to choose between we decided to give it a go. Every course was exceptional, and completely ruined our January diet.... but what a way to go! Staff were all utterly delightful, and had layed out in advance of our arrival 2 well designed ramps to help me (as a wheelchair user) get up the 2 small steps at the front door. There was a nice disabled loo for non residents, and after dinner we were offered the chance to see their accessible bedroom which was very cosy with a wood burning stove and well designed bathroom including a wet room area with drop down seat. We will definitely be back to stay next time. A real gem!
