A beautiful ride over 2 days - accommodation at Quince Luxury B & B was sensational - along the gorgeous Clutha River. The banks are lined with trees that will be beautiful greens in summer, but for us they were gorgeous autumn golds turning red. An easy grade 2 ride.

Successfully completed another bike ride through the beautiful Otago countryside. Last year we did the Otago Rail Trail, this year the combined Roxburgh/Clutha Gold Trail. Coming off the Roxburgh Gorge trail segment we stayed at Roxburgh at the Clutha Gold Cottages which were lovely, clean, tidy and warm. After a scenic bike ride along the Clutha River via Faigans Café at Millers Flat( yum) we spent the second overnight at the Beaumont Hotel. Great country pub and good food. Last day was a short ride to Lawrence. A lovely town to look around so allow time at the end of your trip to look around. Recommend the trails, just do some training before hand to make your bike ride more enjoyable. Our trip was organised through Bike It Now (used them for the Rail Trail) and the service, organisation and equipment were faultless.

We did this Trail and Roxburgh Gorge at Easter - from Lawrence to Millers Flat, Millers Flat to Roxburgh and then on to Alexandra.

Grade 2 - our electric bikes were great on it, and we noticed a few others on the trail as well. Fairly easy going, some up and downs to make it interesting. My feeling is that the electric bikes are getting some of us out to do these trails who are older and less fit.

A fantastic addition to New Zealand's Great Rides - Highly recommend downloading the App for these.

Definately include the Roxburgh Gorge part of the trail - and the jet boat trip, which is i expensive ($95) each but fantastic and well worth it.

In hindsight we would next time spend two nights at Lawrence and explore the Garbriels Gully, and two nights in Alexandra so we could do the trail either side of the river from Alexandra to Cromwell.

We did part of this trail between Roxburgh and towards Millers Flat. A very good surface and gentle ups and downs as it follos beside the Clutha river. The part we did was totally off road.
