wow, this was a very beautiful and amazing resort and it has such amazing views of everything, it was just like staying in a jungle, the birds were singing in the trees every morning and the lizards running around

Stayed three nights in a jungle walk bungalow, beautifully situated amongst the trees. We were slightly intimidated on our arrival, our car keys taken from us, and staff insisting on driving us everywhere in a buggy, parking the car, altogether over-attentive. It might suit some, but not us. We asked for our car keys back and regained independence from then on. Set in a nature reserve, with many designated walks to view wildlife and the wonderful scenery from the private beach attached. Numerous exotic birds, wallabies, even a lace monitor (huge lizard) passing by. Very hilly, paths up to reception might be too steep for some. But transport available if needed, you only had to ask. We managed the steep paths without problem. We didn't use the large restaurant, preferring to eat on our own balcony surrounded by the sounds of the forest. An approx. 10 km drive into Port Douglas itself, for trips to the Great Barrier Reef. A once in a lifetime experience.

Room tip: Ask for rooms close to the car park if you don't want to have to ring for transport every time you want to go out.

Had lunch in a great open air restaurant with good views of the ocean and gardens. Were entertained by birds taking a bath and a goana having lunch in a different tree to the birds. Food was good value. Moved to a different restaurant for afternoon tea wjich was of 6 different cakes and tea or coffee. Great value and views towards Palm Cove. We were the only ones there, so had personal service. We picked a great time of year to visit as wet season not really on us yet nor were the tourists as 3 weeks before Christmas. Loved the ladies restroom, plenty of room to sit and rest in the outer room. A full length mirror to check your attire and best of all a large overhead fan to keep cool. Both restaurants had fans to keep cool. Will definitely be back!

Loved EVERYTHING about this place. It consist of beautiful and luxury bungalows just 10-15 km outside of Port Douglas and a great tree main building with restaurant and lobby. The environment is so beautiful! Is positioned in a lush palm forest environment - just next to a spectacular beautiful and private beach - nearly 2 km long. Also very nice swimming pools! The service is fantastic. Highly recommendable. A must place to stay if you go to posh and beautiful Port Douglas

We have just returned last week from th Thala. We had such a lovely stay and all the staff we encountered was really friendly and helpful espically sarah on reception.

the sea view room was beautiful and very well appointed with great air conditioning! we at the the restaurant twice and the food was very yummy.

as the resort is pretty large you hardly saw other guests so it was really nice to have 3days to relax with a bit of peace and quiet.

we did all the walks ourselves so make sure you pack a pair of trainers.

As a travel agent i would 100% recommend this hotel.

thank you to all the team for a wonderful stay

Room tip: Upgrade to a Sea view room
