Not yet remodeled

We stay at Motel 6 because we have a dog. So we don't expect the best with a discount motel.
This property has not yet been remodeled, so most everything in the room is dated.
The bed was awful, even for a motel 6. Other problems were a dead TV remote, empty Pepsi bottle near the bed, major cig smell in the room, and a faulty light switch near the door. The switch was a fire/shock hazard the weekly inspection should have caught.
The Motel 6 on St Augustine Rd has been remodeled.

Check-In for our reservation was quick & smooth. Our room was at the opposite side of the property from office, facing nearby I-75 and RR tracks; so at first we had some concern for potential noise. But we were tired, and once settled inside the modest but clean & decent room (which had no smoking odor, a make-or-break criteria for us) we heard nothing to disrupt our good night's sleep. There was nothing wrong or bad to remark upon from our visit, lots of nearby alternatives, and it's a very functional location. The rare Hurricane evacuation is well-publicized long before it arrives, and the roads & hotels are busy any time, much more so during a disaster - so it isn't really fair to down-rate in reviews when the staff (who are locals trying to make the best of it too) and facility are overwhelmed. Suggestion: Let Common Sense influence your choices, and civility guide your reviews. If you're used to over $100 rooms, you won't be impressed here. We've stayed in both, and were happy here + the $60 difference we saved. P.S. they do have a microwave beside the ice machine @ office, and no-hassle pet policy. We'll be back.

I was a little apprehensive about staying here because of all the negative reviews. But because I am a dyed-in-the-wool budget traveler, and have been down this path before, I decided to give it a try. My ratings are also based upon price to quality. You can't expect $100 quality for a $50 price. I had a first floor room at the front, facing the busy road. There was traffic noise but it didn't really bother me. My room was small with two double beds, one for me and the other for my belongings. There was an old style TV with limited channel choices which worked fine. TV was set on a long, maybe eight foor, veneer type desk with chair and under the desk shelving for storage if needed. The room wad well lit. The walls appeared freshly painted. If they were not, then their condition was good with no noticeable marks, stains, or anything else. The bathroom is decent size with what seems to be a newer "bath fitter" type shower unit. The shower is very small with not much room to turn around, but the water pressure and high placed shower head more than made up for it. One of the best showers of the whole trip. My only negative comment would be the mattress. It doesn't have much firmness to it, sinks in quite a bit and has a squishy springy sound to it when you sit on it or move around during the night. Despite this, I slept pretty well. They really should get new, more comfortable mattresses. That is the reason for my '4' rather than '5'. I can't speak for the AC, because I didn't need it. It's a central unit with vents as opposed to an individual wall unit. So the bottom line is if you are looking for amenities such as flat screen tv, fridge, microwave, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, coffee maker, huge fluffy bath towels, designer bed linens, separate sitting area with upholstered chairs, etc., etc., then, by all means, continue driving. If, on the other hand, your needs are few and you are looking for an economical place to stay after a day on the interstate, by all means give it a try. I would stay again. There were no rowdy guests that I could hear, but that might very well be different on another night. And that could happen anywhere. The wifi worked fine as well. Parking is right in front of the door. My room was 103.

We made a reservation for this hotel on the Monday before it became apparent that Hurricane Matthew would hit the east coast of Florida. During our evacuation, we called the hotel to verbally confirm our reservation and were told that they had it and there was no problem. Upon arriving in Valdosta, we drove by the hotel to ask about an early check-in at which point our reservation was confirmed again and we were told we couldn't check until later that afternoon. We decided shortly after to go ahead and make the drive to go to my parents house in NGA. We called and got the name changed on our reservation to that of a single mom who was also evacuating the hurricane with her young son and elderly mother. We confirmed several times that the reservation change was valid and they checked in. That evening we found out the reservation would not be honored and we can only assume it is because the hotel manager, a rude and unscrupulous person, was giving rooms to the highest bidder. Nice job putting families with small kids out on the streets when they have evacuated a hurricane and have no where to go. Horrible hotel with bad people managing it. Stay far away.

We stayed here for two nights. They messed up our reservation for the second night, they did honor there mistake and found us a room for the second night we still had to move all of our stuff and why....why not put the other people in the new room...and we had to wait for it to be bombed and it was the worse smell ever. Because there was an evacuation and the hotel was full it didn't matter to them that this odor was as far f we were sleeping in a room of animal poo. Dirty, no towels, smelled, just awful!

I needed to be in Valdosta for two weeks ends back to back and wanted to save some money. I have stayed at Motel 6's is the South West US before without any issues. So I gave this location a try. The next weekend I stayed at much better place.

The room was nasty, stains on the carpet and bedding, Plus they did not bring clean towels for the second night.
