Great Place

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Feb 2024via mobile
Great place, great staff at the front desk. Checkin was quick and easy. Room was great, clean and bed was very comfortable.

Received a 10% off coupon from the front desk staff for the Texas Roadhouse just a block away. (It was below average for Texas Roadhouse).

Great lace and would recommend staying here!

we've stayed here before and it was wonderful. Loved the breakfast. This year we were traveling with 4 couples and bragged about the breakfast. This year it was terrible. No milk at all (seriously??). Most of the pans were empty. When I asked the woman who was mopping floors if she could help find whoever was working the breakfast bar and she said it was her and she'd be right with us. Kept mopping floors and more people started showing up for breakfast. Don't think she cared. Said there was water on the floor and it was a hazard so she needed to get it done. We never saw any water at all. She kept mopping all the way down the hall. We ended up going to Dennys.

Karen --

I am sorry to hear about your experience, but we do not have a breakfast bar or any pans to serve our guests. Instead, we have a made-to-order restaurant at our Holiday Inn that makes every meal from scratch. If you come back to Valdosta, please give us a try!

Warm regards -- George Malgeri, General Manager

The hotel itself is very nice looking from the outside. We booked thru 3rd party site bc hotel's price was much higher. Got into room late, unpacked & prepared for bed & began noticing terrible smell - it was our pillows! Smelled like spoiled towels! It was more than we could stand so called front desk & they were super nice & offered to change rooms but we were unpacked & ready for bed. We asked if we could just have new pillows. Employee stated housekeeping had stepped out but would be back & bring us fresh pillows. We couldn't stand the smell so we placed pillows in hallway& waited. Feel asleep & no one ever came to room. At check out we asked why no one ever brought us clean pillows but day shift knew nothing about it and stated we would need to take issue up with our 3rd party we booked thru. Accidents happen but someone should have brought us new, clean pillows.

Room tip: Check your room thoroughly for cleanliness before settling in.

This was my 4th visit here, I think. After my last stay, I wasn't sure I would return here, but I got a good rate and was able to book at suite for less than $10 more than a standard so we stayed here. Upon arrival, I announced the issues on my last stay when the hotel was full, when it took 3 rooms to find one that was reasonable. (One had curtains/draperies falling down) The hotel was full then so there were no upgrades although they did try to find a standard one with a bathtub and non-connecting. We ended up then in the room they reserve for pilots, but it did connect! This time I didn't mention an upgrade, but there was one room type (1 bedroom suite) higher than the king suite I booked. It showed available on the web site, but I didn't bring it up so partly my fault! The room was ok but had no tub and did connect, but no one was next door so no issues. We slept well since it was the last night of a weeklong trip, and we were tired. The room, #301, faced east and was at the end of the building but not a high floor that my IHG Diamond Profile shows as my preference! There was a sofa, a beverage area, a king-sized bed, and enough area to dance! Everything was clean and all amenities well stocked.
Everyone was welcoming. My favorite hotel employee was the lady about my age at breakfast (60's). She went above and beyond as we had my complimentary breakfast as my IHG Diamond benefit choice. Breakfast was very tasty. I had a omelet (sausage, mushrooms, Spinach, peppers, and cheese). It came with potatoes and bread (they didn't have wheat toast so I had an English muffin). We had coffee (our own pot) plus I mentioned that I drink lots of water so she brought a pitcher of ice water. Other half had wrap w Potatoes. All good except maybe a few too many onions! The chef did a great job!
My issues with this hotel:
1) the bar is no longer an option. They used to have happy hour and include a drink special, but now they give a 10% food or drink coupon. I asked the bartender, and she said one or the other but not both. Since the drinks were overpriced and the food looked like bar food, we went out for Chinese takeaway food. In my earlier visits, the bar was always crowded, but it was EMPTY this time!
2) Hotel internet off when I woke up at 5:45 but back on around 6 am.
3) No pre-assigned upgrade as mentioned earlier
4) Hotel showing its age
In summary, we will stay there again if I can book a suite at a good rate since they don't seem to reserve an upgraded room for their IHG Diamond guests! A bathtub or non-connecting room is a longshot. For one night, we can put up with the inconveniences as long as the staff remain friendly and the breakfast is so fulling and served with a smile!

I booked my king suite room stay for one night through my IHG rewards. Got to the hotel and was given a two queen. Went back down to the desk and told them my reservation was for a king suite. I was told “You must of made your reservation after we were booked and there were no king rooms available.” Which makes no sense. How can they take/book a reservation if the hotel is full? They gave me a king room suite after I insisted, but added a $40 charge. The front desk employees were not friendly and were rude. Our room was not clean, hair on the floor in the bathroom, no bath mat, crumbs on the couch. I called the manager and she fixed my bill and did discount my rate. I will not be giving this hotel my business in the future.
