most disgusting hotel I've ever had the displeasure of visiting

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Nov 2024
I had the misfortune of staying at the Econoloung Hotel, which was undoubtedly the most disgusting hotel I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. The moment I stepped into the hallway, I was hit with a putrid smell that was unbearable. The rooms were equally as bad, with a strong stench that was inescapable. The bed was filthy, with stained sheets, hair, and even pennies scattered throughout. I was appalled and had to request new sheets from the front desk, which was an inconvenience in itself. But what's worse is that I had to take it upon myself to clean the room because it was clear that the hotel staff didn't bother to clean it properly. There was mold growing everywhere, and the bathroom floor and toilet looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The floors were also dirty and looked unsafe to walk on. To make matters worse, I found bugs in the shower, which was absolutely disgusting. The towels and rags provided had stains on them, and I didn't feel comfortable using them at all. I had to buy my own towels and rags just to feel clean. Despite my best efforts to clean the room myself, the cleaning people came after everything I witnessed and the room still didn't look clean. The floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed, and I was starting to feel like I was in a nightmare. I tried to leave and get a refund, but the smoking white lady with short hair at the front desk refused. Unfortunately, all other hotels in the area were fully booked, so I was forced to make do with the disgusting conditions. I ended up sleeping in my car because the hotel was so unbearable. Overall, my experience at the Econoloung Hotel was horrific, and I would not recommend it to anyone. The hotel needs serious renovations, a thorough cleaning, and a complete overhaul of their staff and cleaning protocols to make it even remotely habitable.

Disgusting rooms with mold and stains everywhere. The carpet was disgusting. The bathrooms were cracked and had mold and the small kitchen wasn’t cleaned with food and grease all in the microwave. I definitely would not recommend staying here.

We had a choice: Use the heater which put out a smell as if there were a corpse or stay cold. We called for a blanket (There was a drawer labeled BLANKET in the dresser, but was empty) and told, “Oh, we don’t have any. “

The clerk said the heater probably stinks because it hadn’t been used and to let it run for 30 minutes. Really. It smelled like death.

We went to the car and pulled out the emergency blanket.

My husband looked at the heater and said it desperately needed cleaning

Save your money. The elevator is not from this century. Our door sensor was broken so it took 2 different workers & multiple trips to the front desk, to let us back into our room to get our stuff out of it once we got back. There was stains on the bed sheets & chairs, plus the TV didn’t even work. On top of all of that, when we asked to be moved to a different room the front desk woman got an attitude with us about it. Again I say save your money.

TERRIBLE PLACE TO STAY; DON’T STOP HERE!!
Although the lady @ the front was very nice & apologetic; this place is HORRIBLE!! Elevator is crackly, old, & has an odor!! The third floor is supposed to be “pet friendly,” however, as I got off the elevator, I was met with immediate smoke, carpet flooring was stained & ripped from constant traffic. The chairs right outside the elevator were terribly soiled! Our room was not any better, it smelled like straight musk & urine!
I was so tired as it was early morning after midnight but I couldn’t stay there with my family as I knew we would have awakened to illnesses! My stomach was turning, skinned crawling, & throat started to get itchy just in the 30 minutes of being there!
I immediately went back to the nice front desk attendant & requested a refund after explaining how dirty & disgusting the hotel was! The front was nice but the interior should be closed down!
This place needs to be monitored & closed until brought up to a human standard!!!! Definitely got a refund!!
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, HEALTH, OR MONEY!
To many viruses & Illnesses out here to walk into one on purpose @ your own cost, smh 🤦🏾‍♀️
Choose wisely!! Too many options in the same area!!

Econolodge Valdosta, Ga has got to be the worst hotel experience that I’ve ever had while traveling. When we checked we had requested a 3rd floor room and we were told that was only for smokers, we were told there was no pets allowed but there was people with dogs, they told us that the continental breakfast wasn’t available due to Covid, the room that they gave us ended up being on the first floor facing a power grid and there was mold, dead and live roaches and bugs in the bathroom and in the bathroom light fixture, the toilet seat had looked like it was never cleaned, there were stains and mold on the floor and around the shower in the bathroom, the floors were very sticky, The AC unit was loud and didn’t work properly. There was only two towels, one washcloth, and one hand towel in the bathroom for three people. There was also no coffee in the lobby as they told us for gas available and the pool was closed on a hot sun Georgia day. Are you kidding me! After complaining to the front in regards to our room, we were moved to a suite. That room really wasn’t any better. The AC blew out very humid and loud all night, there was mold on the bathroom floor and around the shower, The switch play covers and the remote control back was taped together, there was leftover food in the microwave from the previous traveler and the microwave was not cleaned and disgusting. The floors were very sticky, the lighting was very dim, and The bed frame was torn and nasty. This entire hotel is a safety hazard for people that have allergies or asthma and I think the health department should be called on this. Extremely totally disappointing!

Room tip: Avoid this hotel at all costs spend a little more money and go to at least sleep in or another hotel don’t go here!
