I search hotel rooms for bugs once I enter them, however after this experience I learned I was not looking for the correct things. I was watching a movie On my laptop and kept seeing something out of the corner of my eye, the lights were off, I brushed it off thinking it was just floaters or something...never expecting what I learned 25 mins later. I started itching and when I grabbed my phone to shine a light I learned it was bed bugs. I quickly went up to the front desk and informed them that they had a very bad bed bugs infestation and they were everywhere. She responded that she was not sure what to do.... When I Returned, turned all the lights on they started moving off of the bed. Room 308, was a double so I had my suitcase open on the other bed..they were IN MY SUITCASE. I went to go to Walmart only to remember, “oh yeah we are in a pandemic..it’s closed” so I had to go back to the hotel and ask them for large trash bags because I wanted to salvage my suitcase and clothing. The front desk clerk did offer me a new room, but by this point it would have been pointless due to the bugs being in my luggage, I would have just transferred them..and there was no where to buy new clothes prior to me having to be at work in the very early morning hours. It is 9:30-10pm at this point. Anyhow, long story short...I had to leave my suitcase behind as it was too large for the bags....And double bagged all of my clothes in trash bags and zip tied them to put in my trunk. I drove 2.5 hours home that night.
**i understand bed bugs can happen in any facility, my post is for past and future guest to be aware that they have/had them, and for them to take proper safety measures when entering a room. I am in no way trying to bash the hotel or talk in a negative manner**
The pictures below are from the 2 sets of pillows in the room, this is all I could get as I was freaking out and when the lights come on they apparently run. I showed the clerk these photos.
