My wife and I came over from Marietta for a high school reunion and we knew exactly where to stay, her old homestead. It has been several years since her family lived here so we were so excited to have an opportunity to enjoy the home once again and see all the amazing things Ed & Cynzia had done. We loved it all, sitting on the front porch, walking through all the old buildings, staying in my wife's old bedroom (The Rojo Room), having breakfast in the Buchanan Dining Room next to the Vinson Parlor and mostly connecting with Ed & Cynzia. They were such great hosts. We had the opportunity to share some old stories of our experience in the old home as well as hear about all the things that have happened since. Would recommend this to anyone looking to relax and get a piece of history of one of the most charming cities in the State of Georgia. Can't wait to return with friends in the Fall for a Geogia game. Thank You Ed & Cynzia.

Scott & Christie - What a wonderful experience to have you both "come home"! Learning about the many experiences in the house and around Maxeys was awesome. Thank you both for the time and we look forward to your return soon.

My wife and I love this place. You feel like you are centered back to what's important after the day to day grind of the city. This restored 1920 house is decorated with a bright artistic flare and the peaceful grounds are just what one needs to recharge. The hosts Cynzia and Edward are experts at accommodating guests and their talents for art and cooking, along with hard work, allow this place to do it's magic on you. I would highly recommend you give it a try!

We had a wonderful time at the Gillen House! The home is beautiful and charming, decorated with the hostess’ artwork. The bed was so comfortable and the room/bathroom was beautiful. Edward and Cynzia are so welcoming and hospitable- we felt right at home. The breakfast was delicious and everything was so thoughtfully planned out. Even though it rained our entire visit, we still loved sitting on the back porch, reading and listening to the rain. Beautiful home and wonderful people- you won’t be disappointed!

Katie - Cynzia and I are happy that you found us for an extra day away from the big city! The upstairs porch is such a peaceful spot on a rainy late afternoon - glad you two discovered it. Please make plans to return soon. Thanks again for the stay and the kind words here. Edward & Cynzia

I just returned from an amazing weekend at The Gillen House in Maxey’s GA and I highly recommend it!

My husband and I went with three other couples and planned to attend The Wildwood Music Festival, a 10 minute drive. The Festival was fun but we were caught off guard by how much we enjoyed relaxing at The Gillen House. We decided not to go to the festival on the second day and enjoyed the property instead.

A perfect place to unwind. Beautifully restored and decorated by the artist Cynzia Sanchez and her partner Edward Toledano, the Gillen House is lovingly decorated and so comfortable.

Edward and Cynzia are the perfect hosts! Very interesting and engaging and happy to have a cocktail on the porch with you or give you all the space you need.

Can’t wait to return!!!!

From the patio out back I watched the big sky clouds drift over the barn and the lawn and a pond with a turtle doing yoga in the afternoon sun.

It was the kind of peaceful country setting that can’t be copied or arranged just anywhere.

It’s no surprise that Edward and Cynthia are it’s curators. Each an artist in their own, now sharing an amazing palette that I was happy to enjoy and am anxious to return to again.

Cynzia and I are so glad that you chose to stay the weekend with us. The open sky does indeed allow you to see the wonders above and the turtles add a special flair. We are happy that the peacefulness here was discovered.
