Great Location and Friendly Service - But Nothing More

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 9 Mar 2023
Booked for the Parkside location and got what we wanted - with very good service, but little else. Rooms are small with even smaller bathrooms - toilet is so close to the bathtub, a tall person with longer legs has to choose between sitting on a 45 degree angle or sitting with their feet in the tub!

Our top-floor room had an air conditioner that was attached to the ceiling - which was fine, except that the temperature numbers lit up like a strong nightlight - which might give some difficulty in falling asleep.

As somewhat expected, there was some noise from the several trains passing along the nearby tracks - but they do offer free earplugs which we did not need to use.

Although they advertise a continental breakfast, it has been curtailed - now just coffee and tea service.

On the plus side, the valet parking was quick and only $15 per day.

The worst hotel experience I've had. I knew to expect the constant sound of commuter train whistles and track sounds and that wasn't a big deal. The hotel is over 100 years old. It looks like it and it hasn't been modernized. The lighting is poor, the walls have cracks and ears since they are thin. Sounds are heard from the outside and inside. Plus they charge for small bottles of water.

Room tip: Pass it by.

We have stayed at many older hotels which have exuded charm. Park Plaza is equal parts charming and run-down. The wiring and plumbing seems jerry-rigged. The bathroom mirror is tiny, It needs a big investor to update it. The location is wonderful - can walk to 20 or more restaurants and enjoy the large park in the center of town. The desk and bell staff were friendly ad helpful.

Stayed here thinking it would be someone historic. It was,and then some. Place is in need of SIGNIFICANT UPGRADES. Furniture is very old, bathrooms still have the same sinks and tubs from the last upgrade (circa 1950). Floors creak, and heat doesnt work. Overall comfortable bed, but very low end and pricey due to location on Park Avenue in Winter Park.

It’s hard to review this stay. The hotel is not new and modern, but that was expected. Some would say charming and historic, others would say decrepit and in need of updating. The train is loud so know that in advance. Valet was gone when we arrived back at the hotel before 10 pm and we were told to park on the street. Then we got a call to our room at 6:30 advising that our car was in danger of being towed and had to be moved. At least they waived the valet fee when I requested it. Overall, not a restful stay.

What a lovely transport in time. Drinking coffee here in the cozy lobby with jazzy Christmas tunes, Tiffany lamps, and poinsettias & orchids abound! Such a charming 100 year old boutique hotel with shopping, restaurants, museums, & scenic boat tours just steps away! We will be back!🎄
