We have been coming to this place for 5 years now. We book same unit, with boat slip. The owner of the unit is very nice, but new management advised us that they can't guarantee us the unit and there is nothing they can do. Booking was for June 28th to July 5th 2020. New manager advised us to call the week before to see what unit we got. As far as the boat, he advised that boat slips are for owners only, and he is making an exception for this year only.
I guess the $1000+ we spent yearly isn't good enough anymore!
Change isn't bad but not always good. I guess we will have to find a new place.
What a shame!

We know how great that 1st floor condo unit is as it is frequently requested. Unfortunately, we can not guarantee specific units on future reservations. This has been a consistent policy of management going back a few years. We've been able to accommodate your request in recent stays but could never guarantee. We do not want to lose your annual business but we must stay consistent with our message when reserving Westwind Resort condo units. Hopefully, we can mend this relationship to maintain your future business. I hope you will contact me to discuss this matter further.

Over Christmas break, I helped my college-age daughter plan a spring break trip with five of her friends. We searched and searched for a place that would rent to responsible young women on co-ed budgets. We found Westwinds and it was the perfect fit. They were accommodating, answered all their questions, and made the booking so easy. The girls were counting the days to their big trip...and then came coronavirus. They were devastated, but we knew it wasn't smart for them to travel. Expecting to lose their trip and their deposit, they called, only to be told that they would receive a full refund! Chad was amazing. His kindness and top-notch service have given us every reason to get back to Westwinds someday. While they didn't get to stay, based on the service alone, we would highly recommend them.

We ended up here last minute since our previous reservation at another location did not work out. We are super glad we ended up at Westwind Resort. We got the two bedroom with master bed, two twin beds in second bedroom and a pull out sofa bed in the living room. It's super quite at night so sleeping is not an issue. There's a kitchen too and you can switch dirty bath and beach towels at the front office in the morning. The place is super clean, the beds are comfortable and the pillows are super soft. The pool is heated and there's an outdoor grill by the pool as well. There's a pedestrian crosswalk just 20 yards from the resort to go across to the beach and one block walking distance to Publix groceries so extremely convenient!

We go to St Pete for annually for the past 5 years but have stayed at different properties. However, we have found and decided to come back to Westwinds from now on. Dawn and Chad who run the front office are super nice and friendly. Definitely recommend Westwinds Resort.

We stayed in a main floor unit by the swimming pool. The customer service provided by the front office was top notch. Dawn and Amy were welcoming, accommodating, and pleasant to talk to. The unit was clean, everything functioned properly, and we were treated like guests. Free laundry was a bonus. Parking was organized, assigned, and never a problem. Our only nitpick was sketchy wi-fi, which will be rectified soon according to the management, with each unit getting its own router. We liked the ease of walking to Publix, and the excellent concrete walkway along the beachfront. The pool was clean and warm, and we enjoyed relaxing on the lounge chairs right by the intracoastal, literally a stone's throw from the unit. Sitting in the back by the water was beautiful, quiet, and a very intimate setting. It felt like we were in our own back yard. Terry & Heather from Winnipeg

Room tip: Avoid noise by not being near the main office elevator.

We booked this hotel for five nights and checked out early, having spent three miserable nights with no air conditioning. Even without that problem, the unit was disappointing. The bed creaked like something in a Halloween House, the ceiling fans rattled (living room) and hummed (bedroom) constantly. The bathroom was so small one could barely turn around in it, offered only one small towel bar, and had no clothesline to hang a wet bathing suit even though there is a pool. The hodge-podge of furnishings looked like they came from a garage sale -- old and worn. Cleanliness was questionable.
When we left early, the hotel staff promised that we would hear from them within a couple of hours about a refund. Three days later we finally contacted Expedia, through whom we had booked the place; they contacted the hotel and got a refund for the nights that we did not stay. No compensation from the hotel itself for the nights without air.

Room tip: Room at the rear ovelooking the water might be better.
