Overnight stay for early flight

Run!! Run the other way!! So disgusting I can’t even explain it. When I booked I guess I didn’t understand it is a long term stay place. No hair dryer. No soap or shampoo. Paper thin walls. The worst sheets you can imagine. Smokers gathered at front entrance. I checked in very late at night and was so exhausted I just stayed. I hated it. LOL no bedside lamp on the $10.00 bedside table. RUN!

Roach infestation and dirty halls are the final straw. I've spent a week or more at this property every year since 2010. However, this year's stay was disgusting.

The room is infested with small "German" roaches. This is simply not acceptable. We did not cook and did not have food in the room. The hall floors and elevator were filthy, with clumps of dirt that stayed for days. There were large trash bags with food waste in the halls for more than 24 hours.

The new paint job and branding are nice, but the property is much dirtier than it used to be, and is now infested with roaches. This is an infestation, not an occasional palmetto bug; we saw many little roaches in the room every day and evening of our stay. You have now lost me as a customer.

I invite the Woodspring CEO to bring his family and stay a week here and then evaluate how well Woodspring is executing on "simple done better." These problems are things good management can control. I applaud Woodspring's goal of "simple done better." But you have to deliver. This property does not.

The one positive is the courtesy of everyone we spoke to, staff and guests.

This is really a place for traveling workers and transient people.
Doors locked 24 hours a day. I can see at night.
Not the cleanest room. No cleaning without extra charge. Has kitchen, but they want you to buy basic dishware etc.
Staff was basically courteous.
I did have extra guests staying. Baby roaches. Didn't leave any food out.
No evidence of extermination going on.
In the end, it's just not for me.
It is what it is!

I was given this hotel as a 2.5 star, comparing it with others I was familiar with in the area, on Hotwire. It is no where close.

The people at the desk are friendly and helpful. Note: The desk is not always open.

There is garbage strewn on the drive and parking area. The room has various kinds of hair in the bathroom - all over. Some liquid was spilled and dried on the table and chair. One light out of two works in the bathroom. The carpet - well, wear shoes for sure.

No lamps. There are only two overhead bulbs in the room. One quit the second day.

The dresser drawer fell out when I opened it... a wheel and rail absence. Half of the light switch plate is absent too.

Kitchen? Yes, but bring your own glass, fork, plate and saucepans. It is stripped.

Ironically, the room screams disinfectant. We opened the window in 30 degree weather in order to breathe. It was unrelenting.

Then we found out we did not have any heat. Brrrr! The next day the maintenance person came and completely replaced the unit in lightening speed. Good job, Pete! Such a pleasant guy.

I did not say anything about an exterminator, because there are plenty of little crawly things to know that no exterminator was recently used. Every day we had a new crop of "friends", AND every time we turned on a light too.

I realize that this modest alternative lacking amenities exists for a reason. It is just not 2.5 stars. AND it is NOT CLEAN.

I wish the photos could capture the scene. They simply do not.

To their credit, Hotwire and the hotel front desk person agreed to let us check out days early and to refund us all but one night. Thank you both.

It took almost a month to get my room sprayed for roaches. The A.C. is still hanging halfway of the wall. The staff from the front desk leaves at 9 PM.There should be a security guard patrolling the building and the grounds.I simply do not understand guests behavior. This entire place is very sketchy. The simplicity does not bother me one bit.The grounds should be kept clean.Things need to get attended to in a timely fashion.Like having laundry in the building and Walmart across the street.Do like the full size refrigerator and stove top.

I really hope that the person who will respond to this will REALLY read this. I know how customer service works. I know you're sorry about my experience. Just FIX these issues!

After coming to this hotel and seeing the problems, I looked up the reviews so that I can add one myself. I seen that smoke and bugs were an issue. In my case, smoke was not the issue, no smells of smoke.

I am going to place to place trying to find a nice, clean place for my disabled husband and my 3 year old son. I've been driving for hours trying to find a hotel that has rooms available, (everyone is full due to the FSU/MIAMI game) and that also accepts TSA through FEMA.

I lost my house during hurricane Irma and now that I am displaced, I lost my job as well. I was so excited when I found out that this place had one more room available for me to check in to! Has a full size fridge, 2 burners, little cabinet space and a microwave. It was available for the amount of time I needed and it seemed perfect.

I tried to turn on the lights, and there is a "trick" you have to do to turn them on. I have to have the kitchen light on, to have the light over the desk on. If that is the case, I might as well just use the kitchen one.. why have one over the desk?

When I was unpacking my things into the dresser (very small, looks like a night stand), there were a few roaches that were crawling around. I decided not to add my things in there, I don't want them to come with me when I leave.

After killing them, I looked above the desk where they have a pin board hanging, and more baby roaches. Killed them. Went to the bathroom, more baby roaches. Killed them. Went to put my food in the cabinets, killed some more roaches and found some dead ones as well. Looked around the cabinets and there was evidence of roach everywhere (little collective specs of dirt).

When I took the floor towel off of the edge of the tub to put it on the floor, it was wet. Didn't smell, maybe just didn't dry all the way (I hope I'm not using someone else's). This was the same with the hanging towels. There were little hairs on the toilet, you can tell it wasn't cleaned.

I laid on the bed with my son, sheets have little cigarette holes. Not so much a big deal but not really something one wants to see in a non-smoking room.

As the minutes go by, I'm finding more spots that are dirty, and finding more roaches.

Please, please, please, fix these issues. Can you tell me that you would stay here? So so so disappointed. I told the staff about what I was finding, and there was no shock to her voice.. like she KNEW there was going to be some. The phone crackled bad so I could barley hear what she was saying, had to hold in the cord to the phone. "There are no rooms available, and someone wont be able to come up till tomorrow. (This was 3 in the afternoon)

I will be finding a new place tomorrow.

The staff here need to know that if they wouldn't stay in a place like this, they shouldn't expect others to. They need to take pride in the work that they do, and you can tell they could care less.

I really appreciate your time. Thank you.

Room tip: Bring Clorox Wipes and your own blankets.
