I will admit that I am not a big breakfast eater. But, sometimes, finding a great diner can be a lot of fun. My husband is a huge fan of breakfast and diners, so we were excited about how many reviews we found on TA for the Flamingo Diner. People really seemed to like it. We ate their twice; once for breakfast and once for lunch. We wanted to try both types of food to give them a fair chance.
I don't see what the big deal is. We tried the gyro omelet and hash browns, the burger, the chicken and waffles and the Philly steak. The gyro omelet was good with lots of feta the way I like it, but the hash browns were a bit too greasy. The burger was overdone. My husband asked for medium and it came out very well done. The chicken and waffles were barely average. The coating on the fried chicken had no seasoning in it. The Philly steak was very good. I think that was the best dish of the four.
The tables are way too close together. I am not talking about the pandemic here (although, that is an issue). I am saying that I had to shift in my chair in order for the man at the table next to me to have enough room to stand up and leave. I was basically in the poor guy's lap. That is not a pleasant dining experience for anyone.
Also, be aware that the hostess doesn't seat you. She says, "I have one over by the window." You are supposed to know that despite the fact that she didn't make eye contact with you, she is talking to you and that you are supposed to go seat yourself at the table by the window. I know diners are casual and quirky, but really?
I bought a cranberry juice and the omelet and spent $15.00. This didn't really seem like that great a deal to me. We wouldn't bother going back.
