This condo is an end unit, so one less neighbor to worry about, noise wise, and nice and bright - 3 walls with plantation shuttered windows. The location is perfect, only a short walk across the street to the beach. This part of Siesta Key has older folks while the northern part of the island has a younger crowd. The beach is wide and wonderful and has excellent shelling, maybe even better than Captiva , which surprised me. The unit itself is well furnished with all you need for cooking: a microwave, blender, dishes, glasses, dishwasher, cooking utensils, coffee maker, stove with oven, etc. Our king size bed was very comfortable. The only complaint was that the shower in the master bedroom was "frozen" in the shower position, so if you wanted to take a tub bath you had to use the second bedroom. Also both showers had very low water flow. That was our only complaint.
Several excellent restaurants were close, within 2-3 minutes walking time. Miguel's, a French not Spanish restaurant is up scale for a special occasion. We had Filet Mignon and Duck a L'Orange for entrees, and Bananas Foster for dessert, which was prepared tableside. With drinks it came to about $100 and was the best meal we had in Sarasota. Also located there are two excellent seafood restaurants, a Tiki bar, a pharmacy, the U.S. Post Office and a 7-11. If you are not on a diet, go to the German restaurant " A Taste of Germany " for lunch ( they are open for breakfast and lunch ) and try their specialty cakes. All cakes are high in calories and infused with spirits, such as rum, bourbon, brandy, vodka, you get the idea.........
The condo was a walking distance to the private beach (belonged to other resorts, but no one cared if you accessed it as well.) it was clean and exactly how you see it on the pictures. Having two full bathrooms in the condo was a big plus! The owners were very accommodating and extremely responsive. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you needed to cook. Also, the pool was a great area for the kids and to hang-out.
The few things that were missing for me were as follows:
1) there is no balcony
2) no in-unit laundry, however laundry machines are available in the building on the first floor
It was a good stay and definitely good value. Similar condos on the beach for almost double the price, so if you don't mind not having a balcony and a slightly longer walk to the beach, it's a good, affordable option for a nice family vacation.
