Jeff was our guide, he did a great job informing us. We loved the tour he had stories about the history of each location, and some jokes added in for humor. We had our two small dogs along and he made them feel like a part of the tour through humor.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a positive review! We are so happy that you was able to take your two dogs. Jeff is great at giving out the history of St. Augustine and his jokes add an extra layer of fun to the tour. We hope that you will come back to do another tour also Ripley's odditorium is pet friendly.
Jeff was fun, super informative, and interesting. So glad we took this tour, learned so much and really got to take in the beauty of historic St. Augustine!
Thank for giving the Red Train Tours a wonderful review! We are happy that Jeff was able to give you an fun, informative and interesting tour of the city of St. Augustine and take in some of the beauty of this town.
Two words...Handsome Alex!
We actually took the The Old Town Trolley on our last trip and we recommend this tour over that one. We learned much more on this ride. Alex, was fantastic, couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide. Loved the dad jokes and how he interacted with people walking on the streets too. Thanks Alex!
We got two words for you... Thank you! Its always a pleasure to read people recommending our tour We are so happy that you enjoyed your Red Train Tour with Handsome Alex! The dad jokes and the tour that he gives is one of a kind.
We were suckered into this by our 4- and 6- year olds who saw the red train tour around town. As someone who tries really hard to avoid tourist traps, I groaned internally but went along with it--and I’m so glad I did! Our tour guide was Benji, who had us cracking up laughing from the minute we got there. Jokes aside, Benji is exactly the guy you want showing you around town. He kept an eye out to see what riders were interested in and gave insights about anything we pointed to or spent extra time looking at. He was very informative of history, welcoming of questions, and gave recommendations for local eats and drinks.
I noticed another review about COVID precautions, so want to mention that the historical area is popular to visit, and any time you take a tour there’s some element of human interaction. Even so, we did not feel uneasy at all. On a Sunday at noon in February, there were only a few others on the train and everyone was respectful of each other’s space. If you show up and there are too many people for comfort, you can reschedule. In fact, we had to reschedule for another reason, and it was quick and painless. Do what’s best for your family, and if you take the tour--ask for Benji!
Thank you for taking the time out to leave a review, hiimmels! We are happy that your children made a brilliant choice for a tour of the town. Benjy is an amazing tour guide with his jokes that children of all ages love and his knowledge and facts for the area is just amazing. Thank you noticing our Covid-19 guidelines we have put it to effect on the trains. We hope to see again for another Red Train Tour and maybe your children can sucker you into a combo then you can enjoy the museum as well.
Handsome Alex was a great guide and interacted really well with passengers and even tourists on the street. We really enjoyed the tour and will be back with our kids. Thank You Handsome Alex, be safe!
Thank you for the great review, NataliaM4512! We are so happy that you enjoyed your time with Handsome Alex and wonderful tour that he gives. We do hope to see you again and with your kids. If you wanted to do another tour with Handsome Alex, he is only available on Saturdays now. You can always call before to find out if he is doing tours on the Red Train Tours.
This COVID-transmitting train needs to be shut down! Required to pay for an entire row (4 tickets for 1 adult & 1 six year old = $50) for safety yet no other precautions were taken! No barriers between the rows like Old Towne Trolley tours, no spacing of rows left between parties, every time the party behind us leaned forward to look at the lights they were breathing down either my neck or my son's.
Not sure how they call this a tour either, no explanation of the city or it's history & while the music was fun, it was so loud that no conversation would be possible. We did a NOL tour by boat with friends the previous weekend and the co-captain of the boat gave us all the history of the city and pointed out significant sights for us. Even pointed out the one house that doesn't chose to participate in the lights each year. If you want to ride around looking at the lights, save yourself a ton of money & take your car.
I am so sorry you had that experience as our team works very hard to make sure that everyone has a safe experience. We did sell by the row this year so that people would have their own row and not have to be seated with other parties. Once you checked in, people were assigned socially distanced row markers to wait for boarding. We fully sanitized each train between every run as well. We also had numerous signs letting people know that masks were required and we even had a box at the check in table to give them to people who may not have had their own. Hand sanitizer was also available at check in. As for the tour, the day time tour is a narrated tour. The Nights of Lights experience has always been set to music. It is not a historic tour. Again, I am so sorry that you didn’t enjoy the experience. We never want anyone to go away unhappy. Please feel free to contact me at kkiff@ripleys.com so that we can try to make this up to you. Thank you.
