I've stayed at lots of Doubletree hotels as I love their warm cookies. However, this one was THE worst!
The first room they gave us smelled strongly of mildew. We tried to ignore it, but you could hear water dripping behind the AC unit, and it was obvious there was water damage creating the smell. After staying one night in the room and all of us becoming increasingly unwell (headaches and sniffles starting), I asked to change rooms. We were moved to a new room which also had a moldy smell, albeit much less pronounced. As we were only there for three nights, and moving rooms was cutting into our time and enjoyment, we toughed it out and avoided the room as much as possible. We always felt fine while outside, but as soon as we returned to our room, we became ill again.
Given that this hotel seems run-down and needs so much improvement, is priced comparably to other hotels, and is almost a mile from Universal Studios, do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
