I stayed at the DoubleTree at the Entrance to Universal Studios for 4 nights. I’m a Hilton’s Honor Gold member and I booked 2 rooms with points. I always get room upgrade as a Hilton gold member but I was denied at this hotel. I didn’t feel welcome and the staff are not very friendly. The only time I see a smile is when the lady tried to sale me a vacation package. The free continental breakfast is limited to only one choice so I order other entries and got 50% off. The breakfast is $17 and they’re very slow. Vinh is a very nice waiter and he took great care of our table. We went to Ihop next door the next day, it’s much better and cheaper.
This hotel is 15 min walk to Universal Studios, the rooms are clean, comfy beds and good views. $10 Uber to universal if you don’t like walking. They have the shuttle but it’s pretty much useless cos you have to wake up early every morning to book your spot, otherwise it’s always full. The shuttle is managed by universal studios and not the hotel, but it is still a negative thing about staying here. The arcade room is very old and we didn’t use the swimming pool.
Overall, this hotel is cheap and a good value if you’re going to universal studios, but don’t expect too much. They’re just ok.
