This was my first time staying at a Disney Resort Hotel and my first time at Disney World in 20 years. With the guidance of a travel agent, we ended up staying at the All-Star Movies Resort. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience.
The room itself was well updated and featured the amenities you would expect out of a hotel room (hair dryer, fridge, coffee maker, etc.). The room was clean and had a modern feel to it. The major knock on the room was the overall lack of space. Our room had a desk area that folded down into the second bed. With both beds out in the room, there was very little space for people to move, which made getting ready in the mornings a bit challenging. We also had a large double stroller, which had to be fully collapsed to get it into the bedroom.
Noise wasn't much of an issue, or at least any more than a normal hotel. You could hear the occasional door slam or voices, but it didn't prevent us from sleeping.
The resort has a number of amenities. We swam at the large pool our first night there. It offered free lifejackets for children to use and was very kid friendly (only 5 ft at deepest point). That said, the water was very warm, so it wasn't much of a place to "cool off". There were Recreations Cast Members there while we were swimming and they had headphones they were handing out to patrons to join them for a dance party on the pool deck.
The food court at the resort was probably one of the more disappointing aspects for me. The selection was pretty varied, but the overall quality of the food left something to be desired. We were on the Disney Dining Plan and I felt like we were better off using our credits in locations other than this. That said, it was nice having access to the refillable beverage cups during our trip.
We utilized the bus transportation to and from the parks, as well as to Disney Springs. Overall, the buses arrived in a timely manner and weren't super crowded, except at park closing. Locations were well marked and got you to and from the parks quickly, with no additional stops.
Overall, we primarily spent our time at the parks and used our room mainly to sleep. This was more than adequate for that purpose. If I planned on spending more time at our room, I would probably consider splurging a little more for something slightly nicer, but I wouldn't complain about having to stay here again.
