Stayed for 3 nights for a friend's wedding and was not impressed by the overall level of service or accommodations as compared to other Preferred Resorts.

We liked that the area is quiet and slightly removed from the action although it would be great if there were more dining options beyond the hotel restaurants. But, the quiet made it a better location for families coming in for the wedding, particularly the older guests and children who would not have enjoyed the South Beach party vibe. The standard rooms are just that...standard. However, we found the bathroom design (separate rooms for the toilet and shower with one sink per room) to be very convenient. There was a broken safe in the room and a rickety floor lamp that turned on but seemed at high risk for tipping over. The penthouse level suites are generically decorated (I felt like I was in a Westin rather than a boutique property) but do have beautiful terraces with expansive ocean views. I probably would not return here, but if I did, I would book a suite.

This was a beautiful venue for a wedding although they had a few major gaps in service during our stay. The hotel tried to switch the backup rain plan for a much worse location on the property than what had been contracted. Whether this was because they had double booked the location or something that had been missed in the transition after the previous coordinator left is unclear. The new coordinator was late a couple of times (once by 45 minutes). Our party had a stacked schedule in the days leading up to the wedding, so this significantly impacted the rest of the day's plans. It would have been great to know prior to the actual meeting time that she would be late. The hotel also deactivated the room keys of the ride and groom on their wedding night, so they had to run down to reception after unsuccessfully trying to do an outfit change between events. The food was excellent and there were various nice spots for the ceremony and reception. There were 3 other events on the same day and I felt badly for another wedding taking place as the ceremony was directly next to our cocktail hour. In spite of all this, I have no doubt the photos will be amazing - especially because beyond the beautiful property, the onsite Aveda Spa actually does some of the best pro hair and makeup I've had.

More disappointingly, my friend had some small cash stolen from her wallet when we were at breakfast. We had thought to put things in the safe but since it wasn't working, we took a chance assuming that it was a nice hotel and we would not be out long. We had also previously left thank you note and tip for housekeeping, so this was especially surprising. This was our mistake for leaving the wallet behind but was a huge letdown that tainted the experience.

The Palms can be a good holiday spot or event venue but folks should know the potential drawbacks before choosing it.

When researching online for a venue for our daughters wedding in Florida, I happened to find this hotel. The photos online were just what I was looking for.
This place has a beautiful tropical setting in a boutique style hotel. I felt like I was staying on one of my favorite Hawaiian islands.
When our family arrived at the hotel after traveling, we were immediately helped with our luggage by the friendliest bellman. We knew right away that we made the right choice.
Check-in was seamless, and the front desk was polite and helpful.
We loved the old world tropical feel of this hotel. It was comfortable and relaxing.
We stayed in a Superior Oceanview room. It had an amazing view of the grounds and ocean in the distance. The layout of the room was different, with the shower and lav separate, which was convenient. The sitting area with a sofa and two chairs, was very comfortable and roomy. The carpets could use some updating, but were clean. The comfort of the bed made us feel like we were sleeping on a cloud.
The grounds are just amazing, with tropical gardens and pathways throughout. The pool and beach are just as beautiful and relaxing.
We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning because the food was delicious and the service was good.

Most of all, the staff at this hotel went above and beyond to make our stay, and my daughters wedding a dream.
I can't express how wonderful everyone was.
Thank you Palms Hotel, we will return!

My husband and I just returned from a 3 night stay at the Palms Hotel and Spa and all I can say is WOW! We had an absolutely wonderful time!!

I did a lot of research leading up to our trip as we were celebrating our 10th anniversary and I wanted it to be perfect. I settled on the Palms Hotel and Spa for a number of reasons: 1) it was listed as one of the most romantic hotels in Florida, 2) the reviews of Essensia were glowing and farm to table appeals to us and 3) the ability to order lunch from the tiki bar directly from our beach lounge chairs! This hotel did not disappoint!
The hotel is beautifully decorated and the landscaping of the grounds was impressive.

The restaurant, Essensia, was delicious and our server went above and beyond to make our 10th anniversary dinner very special - even sending out a complimentary dessert decorated with 'Happy Anniversary'.

The tiki bar had a wonderful selection of indulgences (burgers, chicken fingers, wings) and healthy options (mahi mahi burger, taboulleh, Mediterranean wrap) and everything was delicious - especially the French fries!

The gift shop had a wonderful selection of breakfast pastries, drinks, coffee and ice cream treats - Try the yogurt parfait, it was the most delicious I've ever eaten. Jessica H was most helpful in the gift shop!

Check in and check out were very easy and Moises made our check in extra smooth by helping us get acquainted with the layout of the hotel and suggesting some local attractions.

The Essensia bar was also a fun place to hang out. Their menu was a little different from the restaurant and the tiki bar but they still had a great selection and the bartenders were eager to serve us - Vele made me my very first mojito and it was delicious.

I got a massage at the spa and I would highly recommend it. The spa is beautiful and they had a steam room and a lovely room to relax before and after. The women there were very friendly and accommodating (Jamie the massage therapist and a lovely woman at check out who was from Jamaica (can't recall her name)).

All in all this hotel was everything I had hoped for and more. My only complaint is that their in-room tv station selection could be improved. Maybe just adding HBO would help give more in-room options that don't require a purchase. Otherwise it was absolutely perfect!

As a side note regarding a couple of complaints noted by other reviewers...We didn't mind the added 18% gratuity to all food/drink bills - this is pretty standard in areas with lots of tourists (two of the restaurants we went to in south beach also added a flat 18% gratuity). In my opinion it is actually on the low side because our service was so great all of the time, we would have probably tipped higher.

And with regards to room noise - we didn't experience any. Our floor was packed (7 weddings the weekend we went and full capacity for 2 of our 3 night stay) and we didn't hear anything.

I honestly cannot wait to return to the Palms Resort! I wish I could go back tomorrow!

I was looking for the perfect reasonably priced Miami Beach hotel to bring my mom to celebrate her 86th birthday. What was important to us was that it had nice areas on site so she didn't need to go out all the time. After researching Tripadvisor, for a good amount of time, I decided on The Palms Hotel & Spa. It was the perfect choice. We had a great time & the staff was very friendly & helpful. It's decor is classy tropical. The pool out back was smallish but big enough. It didn't overwhelm the area. The best part of the "out back" area are the beautiful tropical trees, ferns & atmosphere. They even have two adorable Macau birds hanging around. There are plenty of nooks & crannies to have privacy. Plus you could go out the back gate to the beach & ocean. My only "complaint" is the tiki bar closes around 6pm & I wish it stayed open late so we could enjoy the beautiful nights in that beautiful area, with drinks right there instead of heading inside to the bar. It's a very small "complaint" & not something that is disturbing. The room we had was great though the separate toilet room & shower room is a bit weird. It gives up much privacy. The restaurant is very good & the decor & atmosphere are great. The bar is excellent. A big shout out to Shane who helped us set up a special birthday lunch for visiting relatives. All in all an excellent time & we would definitely return.
