The Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square never gets old for us. It's such an iconic activity that's unique to Key West. People start gathering more than an hour before sunset to stake out a good viewing spot. Mother Nature's show is made festive by a host of boats, street performers, musicians, food carts, and waterside bars. One night while we were there, there was a water battle between two of the ships. The sun actually sets behind Sunset Key island when we are there, but it's still beautiful. This past trip, we splurged on a balcony room at Ocean Key Resort that faced the square and the Gulf. Beautiful ring-side seats every night! If you want to see it more clearly sink into the ocean, move as far down Mallory Square as you can, away from the island so you can see behind it or take a trip out on a boat around the island.

Had fun. Nice views of the bay. Very close to Duval Street and all the dining and shopping. We also saw a cruise boat that was docked nearby.

Well, I can only say the sunset celebration is fun and the sunset was truly beautiful. Worth doing at least once while you are there.
