While most all of the beach front properties in Ft. Walton have pretty much the same view, the thing that stood out about this unit was the decor and furnishings. Very nice. I also like that this property has an assigned parking spot in the ground floor garage. The crowd at the beach was reasonable in number and older (not many kids). The young man that puts out the chairs and umbrellas each morning was very hospitable. My wife has stayed at a few other properties in Destin just across the bridge. She thinks this unit is the nicest she has stayed in and preferred the less crowded beaches of Ft. Walton. The beaches between the two destinations are very close in quality. My wife thinks Destin beaches might be a touch whiter and more powdery, but it's negligible - it at all. The Destin beaches are wider (or would that be deeper?), but the beach here is PLENTY deep. And besides... with fewer people, why would it matter? :) Even IF there is a slightly noticable difference in beach quality, the trade-off for the less crowded beach is well worth it.
On a side note, there was a fish die-off while we were there from a seasonal bloom of June grass (at least that's what we were told by some locals). We were fortunate that the dead fish did not wash ashore near the Palms. About a mile away, towards the Pier, however, it was bad. Pretty disgusting, actually. I am curious, but don't know, if this is something that happens at varying locations up and down the beach about this time each year or not, but we were sure thankful all those dead fish weren't near the Palms. (Otherwise, my opinon about the Ft. Walton beach - but not the unit - might be different.) It might be something to keep in mind or at least ask about though when booking during that season (June?).

Beautifully renovated and decorated. Right on the beach and small complex with an easy walk directly to the beach. Wonderful to have beach service, wifi, and linens included. About the same price or less than a night in a hotel, and definitely more room to spread out. Provided carts which made it easier to arrive and depart with one trip to/from the car. Not as convenient a walk to the pier area as we or our teenagers would have liked. About a 20-25 minute beach walk to get to the pier area was a drawback for our teens to hang out there with friends, so we drove them more than we would have liked, since we wanted the car with us and not them.

This is a wonderful 2 bedroom unit that is nicely furnished, clean and quiet! The elevator is a bit slow but you're on vacation, slow down a little. Condo has everything you need for a great stay and is well maintained. You can sit on the balcony for hours and just stare out on the Gulf. Perfect spot away from the hustle and bustle of Destin with a GREAT BEACH!
