Staff and owners were extremely nice and informative. Location was awesome and the place was very clean. Breakfast was great. Everything was within walking distance. We will definitely keep blue heron inn and Amelia island in mind when planning our next vacation.

We celebrated our daughter’s birthday at the Blue Herron Inn on Amelia Island. We couldn’t have picked a better place. Breakfast and afternoon snacks were served on the veranda and were delightful. I would encourage anyone headed to “the” island to stay there!

OK, all the common things about a great site are the best at the Blue Heron Inn. The site is located in the historic district within a few minutes walk of all the shops and galleries, and the very best restaurants, and even the Amelia Community Theatre, which has very good plays all season. The home is filled with gorgeous antiques, and the rooms are very comfortable, and the entire property is exceptionally clean. Many amenities are provided free, like coffee service, bottled water, home made cookies, and even healthy snacks. Then there are the breakfasts, which are to die for, definitely NOT common! First fine linen, antique china and silver place settings were different each day. Coffee and fruit juices of course, individual house-made souffles, fresh seasonal berries, house-made scones and house-made candied bacon one day, and a house-made granola cup with yogurt and strawberry, a house-made mushroom egg bake (sort of a crust-less quiche), smoky-link sausages and a heavenly banana muffin, house-made of course, everything by one of our hosts, Julie, you're getting the idea I hope! Breakfasts were to die for, served on the porch in the morning, by David, our other host. Just in the interest of fairness, David did say he did the bacon, so I should give him credit for that, it was delicious. In the evenings, before going out for dinner or whatever, Julie made small charcuterie boards for each couple, and wine and beer were available, as well as non-alcoholic beverages for those who wished, and we all sat and talked about the day we'd spent, where we were going for dinner, and talked about the background to the town and the house. David was a well of information on things to do and to see, and each room had a lot of pamphlets about what not to miss. Parking was available on site. The experience was exceptional, top drawer, first class, all that, and yet what we'll probably remember most was that David and Julie made us feel like honored guests in their home. We'll always come back, and will consider them new friends in our future.
