The tour was great the only problem is you do not have as much time as we would like. There are so many tours coming and going that you are on a tight schedule. Absolutely bring your camera don't leave home without it. Great place to take photos. The lunch which was included in our tour was very good but once again a bit of a rush. Weather was a bit up and down so rain gear was good to have and we would suggest good walking shoes the trails get a little slick if it is raining. It was one of the highlights of our New Zealand tour. But then we are Hobbit fans.

This is a very nice place to visit for all groups, but especially for Hobbit fans. Well worth the entry charge. The tour guide was excellent and the scenery was beautiful.

You must book well in advance. The evening banquet tour was well worth the investment! We loved it! Sunset tour with no other tour groups in the park, the staff was well informed, amazingly patient taking pictures of groups in front of hobbit holes, then a tasty fun banquet at The Green Dragon and a walk back through the village with provided lanterns. Dreamy, lovely, well kept grounds and fantastic staff - our best tour experience ever! The evening tour also gives you more time onsite, about 5:30 - 10 pm! You can't drive up to the set, you must be part of a tour and be bused in from the visitor center. It's okay, the staff was so fun and informative, we didn't mind being part of the group. There were about 50 people (so about 20-25 couples and families) yet it didn't feel like the group was too big. They really do a fantastic job managing the tour and creating a good experience. We are fans and we were elated! Best day in New Zealand! My only comment is wishing there were more handmade/ artisan like souvenirs at the shop, which by the way, you must shop before the evening tour so get there early, gift shop is closed when you return at 10pm (of course).

Visiting Hobbiton was a highlight of our recent NZ trip! The set is kept in pristine condition and expert tour guides give you the inside scoop on Peter Jackson's fantastic films. The complimentary cider beer at the Green Dragon Inn was a much-appreciated touch! It was drizzly the day we toured, but that did not stop our photos and it only enhanced the charm of the roaring fire in the Green Dragon Inn. A fun morning of walking, learning and immersion in the world of the Hobbits!

The views from this place cannot be more kiwiana. The hills seem endless and serene. The shuttle picked us up from town and took us to where the cafe and gift shop is. Great value for money as my husband and I are big fans of LOTR. Took the tour bus to the actual set and it was exactly how the movies were and more. Green dragon inn had to be the highlight for us. The hobbit themed food and cider or ginger beer was great. We would definitely go back the next summer for the evening tour.
