I read the book, saw the movie and now saw the movie set.

Need to improve service to the disable. Only one golf cart, meaning we had to wait. It was touch and go and nearly missed out

We really enjoyed our 2 hour tour. Marcus, our Swedish tour guide was terrific and made the tour a lot of fun. The Hobbit's village was great and fit in with the great scenery. We stayed for the lunch at the Green Dragon restaurant. The food was good, but typical buffet fare. Highly recommended

We have visited Hobbiton on 8/12/2018 in large group. We have 3:20pm & 3:30pm tours. One of our members for 3:20pm tour lost his jacket while he was having beer at Green Dragon. When we back to base then we quickly ask them help to find out. Another group on 3:30pm tour guide actually asked our members who have lost the black jacket. But unfortunately our members didnt know about this as we are going in different groups. We told this issue to the base staff but end up they told us nobody have seen the jackets. We left our contacts and hoping that they will call us back the next day but they didn’t. We even call them back on the next day but the staff on duty no pick up our call. This is so disappointing.

Had a brilliant trip with these guys, they were so helpful and informative. The owner even took my call after hours at home to confirm my pick up time. The actual film set was great too, lots of photo opportunities and lots of small details to see. Coach driver was interesting and took great care of our group as well as explaining about day to day life living in New Zealand. Lunch was great too, well cooked and plenty of choices.

I was worried this would be a bit naff, but not at all! We went in pouring rain but that just added to the atmosphere. They have s team of gardeners that keep everything in tip top shape, even smoke coming from the chimneys. Definitely worth it.

We opted for the evening banquet as we felt it offered a bit more than just a walking tour around the site and I am so glad we did that. From reading other reviews it appears that the set can get really crowded during normal hours however we didn't have that problem at all as they only allow a certain number of people into the site for the evening feast.

Our group was split into two and the guides took each group off on a different route so it never felt crowded or busy. We were able to take our time walking around the Hobbit Holes and our guide provided us with a lot of information and interesting stories about the set and the filming. It really was a lovely experience and as fans of LOTR and The Hobbit it was so great to see the set in real life. We were able to picture so many of the scenes which our tour guide helped us bring to life in our minds.

It did get a little frustrating at times when members of the group wanted to stop and take photos of themselves outside every single Hobbit Hole which of course help up the rest of the group slightly but our guide was always on hand to then move things along so we weren't waiting around for too long.

As for the feast itself, that was a great experience and there was plenty of food available for both groups on our tour. Our only slight issue was that where we were positioned at our table, it was hard to actually get to the food so we had to keep getting up and leaning over other guests which was a bit awkward. I know the whole point is to create a feeling of being at a real Hobbit feast by having it that way but it may have been better to put all the food on to separate tables so guests could go over, help themselves then sit down and eat (that's how they did it at the Maori Evening dinner we went to and it worked really well).

Once the dinner was finished, we were then given lanterns and were able to walk back around Hobbiton in the dark which was very atmospheric. We never felt rushed and the site never felt crowded. We really enjoyed our experience at Hobbiton and it made us want to watch all of the films over again so we could see where we'd been!
