Owner description: The Hobbiton Movie Set tour is an essential stop on the itinerary for all visitors travelling through New Zealand, offering an interesting and entertaining experience incorporating the famous film set as seen in The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Fall in love with the Alexander family sheep and beef farm, just as acclaimed director Sir Peter Jackson did, as you journey through the village, with the mighty Kaimai Ranges towering in the distance. Your guide will then escort you around the set, showing you the intricate detailing, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how the movie magic was made. You will be taken around the 12 acre set; past Hobbit holes, the Mill and into the famous Green Dragon™ Inn, where you can indulge in our exclusive, specially brewed beverages to conclude your own Middle-earth™ adventure.

A must see. The tours to Hobbiton are well organised and very busy so you will need to book ahead to ensure you get a place on the bus tour. The scenery is maintained and exactly like the movie set, right down to the weeds! It is a delightful place to visit and nice place to take photos, the pub at the end of the tour is really well done and you get to sample their own specially brewed Hobbiton Cider. It is something a little bit different and it will make you smile

Visited this attraction with my family. This was my favourite book when I was growing up and is also one of my kids favourites. Also enjoyed the original movies. When you see this in person you can appreciate how much time and effort went into building Tolkien's ideas and translating them into the real world. The guide was most definitely across the material - and I would have said was a bit of a Tolkien tragic herself - having said that, they get all types visit this so not really surprising she is across all the detail. Well worth the visit if you are in this area.

Hobbiton Team
An amazing time actually 3 visits Dec 2016 walking tour April 2017 Banquet & Nov 2017 banquet (partners work do). Never been to the same place 3 times but was very impressed with the fun your guides showed .Excellent customer service. A sing along wouldn't go astray at banquets however overall recommended. Hats off to you all. Well done

This is a fascinating tour of a movie set. It is well set up and the waiting area has a cafe and shop and toilets. You must make sure you are at the bus queue in time for the tour start. The guides are friendly. It was raining profusely but they do offer use of large umbrellas. There is something in this tour for fan and those who know nothing about the films. The groups are quite large and because of the rain and others talking it was sometimes difficult to hear the guide. It is run with military precision around the set and ending at the Green Dragon for a drink. However it never feels rushed and I enjoyed it. Allow a good couple of hours for the whole thing.
