Had wanted to do this tour for so long, it was so good, but a power cut ruined the end.
The evening tour starts in the daylight and you are guided around the whole of Hobbiton by lovely guides. There was no rushing and they gave us plenty of time to take pictures and ask questions. They had lots of knowledge & some funny little stories too.
The place is so beautifully laid out, with lovely trees, flowers & vegetables. It really is stunning.
As we got to the Green Dragon the sun was setting, it was so picturesque. Once inside we were having our drinks but then power went out. So for a while there was some confusion, but they got lanterns out and eventually the generator kicked on. Our food was delayed because of this, but I suppose that was to be expected. When the banquet did start, it was gorgeous. The tables was laden with a great variety of foods. All of them so good except the beef dish. It was so salty none of us could eat it. But we didn't go hungry. Then they cleared the tables for desert, again gorgeous.
The big disappointment happened when we went to leave the Green Dragon and we discovered that none of the lights were working outside. We had our lanterns for the walk, but whole 'the village breathtakingly lit up' was not there. I know these things can happen, but when this is your once in a life chance of seeing Hobbiton and one of the highlights isn't there, it is so disappointing.

Absolutely stunning and beautiful! Defiantly a must do for LOTR/Hobbit fans! ❤️ the farm is well managed and the guides do an excellent job with the large groups. The complementary drink at the green dragon was some of the best cider I’ve ever had! Immerse yourself in the green crisp landscape of the hobbit holes! You easily get lost in Middle Earth!

Only downsides: you get taken down on a bus in groups and are only given a selected time frame to be in there. You must also follow the tour and can take photos along the way. However with big groups, people either walk off for photos or stick to the tour so you end up having to choose which you prefer to enjoy. We only got 20 minutes to have a drink at the Green Dragon, and we would’ve preferred a lot longer to explore on our own and enjoy the environment even more. Extremely popular tourist attraction so tour groups are huge and you will be dealing with a lot of visitors who know nothing about LOTR and are just there for the ‘tourist’ factor, so there’s a lot of trouble getting people to move out of the way for photos or interrupting the tours.

This is a movie set in a isolated farm. You can only expect it to be quiet and personalized. hell no!
I was there in November - apparently not even the busiest month - and could not believe the amount of people there was.
Very touristy. I've read the books, and understand Peter Jackson's choice of the location to create Hobbiton, but the amount of tourists just put me off big time.

Hobbiton is sooo beautiful! Even if you’re not a Lord Of The Rings fan the property is so gorgeous and the work they put into the tour is phenomenal. It’s definitely worth the price and the “green dragon” really does have great food and drink. The tour spoils nothing, honestly the background they tell you adds to the magic.
