Shubert Theater is a treasure of New Haven. It is a theater that seats 1600 people that was opened in 1914. Back in the day, shows would debut here as a proving ground on its way to Broadway. The seats are comfortable and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. A great place to see any genre of show, be it a Broadway musical, a comedy show, even concerts. I recommend it highly.
Attended to see the Wizard of Oz; perfect performance., great seats & very enjoyable place
Previous times attended to see the Yale School of Music Opera performance
Excellent stage and orchestra arrangements
saw dirty rotten scoundrels. very good show. only problem was we sat in the balcony and the sound was very low. we have sat there before and did not experience this. I hope it was just a glitch.
Attending a few events, during our one week in New Haven. Our daughter was in Workd Scholars Cup which held their opening ceremony.
All good. Easy to access, good seating.
Love going here for theater. No bad seats. There's a fairly new lounge upstairs for a drink before the show. Only drawback is the limited seating.
This was my second time to the Shubert Theater, both times to see Les Miserables. The show was outstanding as always! The theater is a quaint venue with good viewing from just about everywhere. It is frustrating to read the reviews about the staff...they were outstanding and incredibly helpful! The primary issue is people do not arrive on time...if you arrive late, they will hold you until a proper point in the show, which is distracting for everyone there when they open the doors and try and seat people in the dark. It is a city, so you have to allow time to park in the garage, traffic, etc. The garage is NOT as bad as some describe! I drove 4 hours from Vermont to see the show with my wife and children...I was not disappointed at all and my kids were thrilled to have that experience!
